the new v3i has 9mb memory, so i suspect the guy is replacing the v3 firmware with the v3i one. 9mb isn't exactly huge either though! (think the new v3i can also take an external flash memory chip)

Good news, yes this is possible! And I'll save you £1.25
The information this guy is selling can be found if you look on the net, but i'll save that time and money by posting the relevant links here :-)

I've done this myself and upgraded my V3 memory to 10mb and also added the video recording fucntion and much more besides!

If you take a look the following sites, they should take you thru how to do various upgrades amongst other things. But the usual caveat applies here, do it at your own risk (also clearly outlined on the websites) If something does go wrong, it may render your phone useless. Having said that, there is big V3 modding community out there, so the majority of stuff has been tried and tested before its rolled out into the public domain.

There's alot of reading, but it is worth it.

Yes from what I've read it's just basically flashing the phone, then deleting some un-needed files.
