Should Jaguar be bailed-out????

What exactly would the bail out do for JLR? Allow them to continue building vehicles very few people will buy during the current recession, what happens when the bail out money dries up and they have airfields full of unsold vehicles?
Jay Leno the American chat show host has a great idea for companies that have been bailed out by there governmebt. Any executive of a bailed out company will not be allowed to earn more than the prime minister/president, until they have re-paid all of the money borrowed.0 -
We should be doing everything we can to save people's jobs, but I don't see why jobs for Jaguar are worth more than any other. Why should J be saved and not any other business?
Inefficient, environmentally unfriendly cars, made for people who will struggle relatively less during an economic downturn. Doesn't make sense to me!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

It's a nice thought, but no talented businessman/banker that actually has a hope of turning a huge company around is going to work for £200k, when they can get a heck of a lot more elsewhere.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Not sure whether they should be bailed out, but I think they will be.
The military relies heavily on Land RoverThis is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
the money requested by TaTa ,i believe is to pay the interim installment to the exowners of JLR.
if the banks are not willing to lend then where should the company go for the loan?
the 'bailout' is nothing but a loan which will have to be paid back.
this would help to save british jobs.0 -
how can the govt bail out jaguar when their policy on climate change means that they are obliged to shaft motorists , jaguar make big , high consumption cars , so how does that fit in with their policy . it would make a mockery out of it0

Is that right? I've seen the figure of "a package of up to $1bn in loans to help Jaguar Land Rover", but given that Tata paid £1.15b, I think it may be a bit more than interim installments."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -

JLR bought for £1.15bn would mean that the market capitalisation was that amount.
Nothing to do with the cash flow in the operating expenses of the company.0 -

i know their just talking at the moment but should every large private company be bailed out when things get rough, surely the company who own them should be responsible for their future!
emphatically no - no doubt they would take the hand out and fold in two years time anyway....accompanied by large payments to directors etc while the little people get the minimum redundancy at best.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
