we've just bought tvs with integrated freeview for our kids' rooms for christmas and been told that our area will not pick up freeview channels without a Freesat box. This is going to cost well over £300 for the new digital ariel and 3 x boxes (one for the dining room as well) According to the website mentioned above we should be able to receive freeview but we're in a dip and according to 2 different ariel people we won't be able to pick up freeview. I know when OH tested the tvs it said there was 0% signal from freeview. I've posted here about this before. I don;t want extra boxes in the bedrooms - that's why we bought integrated freeview and I don't want to pay all this money - but do we have any choise?

    Try to ask in http://www.avforums.com/forums/freeview/

Think you'll need something to seperate the signal & to supply the new sets.

My suggestion of Sky Pay Once, might be a starting point, then get the Sky installer to create additional cables to the kids rooms.

Basically, if you cannot get Freeview via an aerial, your only option is satellite, either Freesat or Sky, which will mean additional receiver/s and a Satellite Dish.

Hi there, thanks. I should have said we've got Skyplus in the living room and sky normal in the dining room. we don't want the kids to have access to sky in their rooms but want them to be able to watch freeview channels. Does this make a difference and where can we go from here? thanks

You could buy a couple of second hand Sky Receivers from a Car Boot or eBay, run cables from your Sky dish to each receiver, you will not get " Freeview " but you will get free to air channels from Sky, which are similar, but not identical.
  • You can actually have NTL other than sky or freeview so your not bound only to the 2 mentioned above!!!!

NTL? I think that you mean Virgin Cable, not everyone has access to Virgin Cable.;)

In which case, most people are restricted to Freeview or Satellite.
