I also love vodka but we won't venture down that path, well not on a Monday anyway ROFL

Have you tried Sloe Vodka, as opposed to Sloe Gin? A friend made me some last Christmas and it is delicious! It just reminded me of my homebrewing exploits that were cut short for the housemove, but I will save whatever bottles I ca for this year. MrDT was in charge of that part of the MSE forums for us in 2008 so come on, where are you? Sirely homebrew will draw you out of hiding. Come to think of it, what did MrDT's OH get for Christmas? Maybe he's proposed and they've gone to Acapulco or Montego Bay or somewhere exotic like that to celebrate?

At my age I have trouble pulling my socks up!
:rotfl:I sometimes have the same problem -- but I could claim that's due to weight/back problem issues rather than age (the kids say I'm a dinosaur, but I keep insisting I'm not that old yet :p )

  • I was out in the town centre earlier on and my ears started burning. Then I come back and see this. ;) .

Hey Paul. Sorry for burning up your ears today.:)

From what I read you are ahead of the pack; you are dealing with the situation as best as you can with well defined time limits, you are on your way to success... I am sure. With the usual ups and downs like most of us but we shall succeed in the end.

Take care and all the best.

How do you make blackberry vodka and is it nice?

Not sure if I fancy doing the home brew thing in case the kids got hold of it because my little boy Pip would be going Pop!

You can use most fruits but I really fancy trying the blackberry one, seeing as there are so many blackberry bushes about. You just rinse & dry your chosen fruit then seal it in an airtight jar with the vodka to infuse. If you use small bottles and jars, you can get loads out of a litre bottle of vodka... I cannot believe I never thought of this for Christmas presents! Thank you all for reminding me for next year. Personalised labels and small decorated jars/bottles would be great in hampers :D

If you G00gle 'homemade schnapps' then there are hundreds of recipes :D

  • My sister gave her sloe gin as Christmas presents this year and everyone loved the idea.
Still not heard about blackberry vodka recipe but i'm sure its just what nykmedia described. Like you we have a glut in the summer.
Starting to think about who I could give it to! Never tried home made Christmas presents before yet I love receiving them as they as special and personal.
