  • Goodmorning everyone. It s really cold in Reading today but I guess I should not complain as some of you are way up North.:) Mind you I never have any heating on in my bedroom (I am sharing a flat), just a nice hot water bottle and an electric blanket for really freezing days.

Today I will have a nice wind-up charger for my mobile delivered that I have bought off ebay very cheaply. I have looked at a solar charger for my notebook which I use many hours every day due to my work, but it costs an astronomical 200 Sterling so I have skipped for the time being.

Next on my list is a wind-up radio.:o

It has just dawned on me and I need to ask you guys. AM I THE ONLY MAN IN THE CHALLENGE???  :o:o If you say yes, I will be really really scared now...:D

All the best for the day and we will speak later.

    Good morning

i hang my head at being a tad naughty yesterday (so much for the no spend days)

the boys went off to there dads so i ended up going to asda for milk (yep i know!) as i had none and wanted a cuppa

ended up spending £6.90:eek: , not only did i buy milk but i got myself a book the boys some socks, 2 packs of deli wraps, bread and lots of frube tubes, that thankfull thing is the frubes and wraps were very reduced and went straight into the freezer

this is what i must stop as id have more of my budget left if i didnt pop out for milk

out later to buy tv stand, if the one i like in ikea is there i have enough left over from my birthday to buy a few nik nacks for myself

then i need to start photoing anything for ebay and tweaking my 2009 budget before the 1st

cash and carry - costco will let you join if you work in particular sectors, eg education. You don't have to be a business. I put a post up about this in the last thread giving all the details and can't find it now (cos I'm useless at searching posts) but you definitely don't have to be a business as far as that particular wholesaler is concerned.

Here you go redlass - I e-mailed it to a friend so I knew I had it :D

  • Hello to all, hope you all had a good christmas

I have just spent 150ish at garden centre online, but this includes 100 for a chicken house, and a walk in greenhouse for allotment, and other mini greenhouse for patio, so its an investment for over the year (thats what i tell myself about everything) Bought wrapping paper and cards yesterday for next christmas, and will include all this in 4k total, as although the money is going out now, it is for next year, and hopefully will reduce grocery costs over the year. The chicken house I am offsetting some christmas present money against, so has only cost 50 out of the budget. Hens are coming around 20th jan, so needs to be built and kitted out before then.

Sawdust im going to buy in bulk from farm, works out loads cheaper, and chicken feed in 20kg bags too, topping up with kitchen scraps. Those chooks are going to need feeding up after being kept in battery cages for the past year, theyre gonna get treats here now.

Sowed herbs in little pots on windowsill yesterday, and next week im going to start some chillies and aubergines off on bedroom windowsill. Im keeping a little notebook in my handbag and writing down every penny, and allocating it to certain groups, ie groceries, travel, garden, pets etc, so over the year i can see where money goes, and which areas the costs are going down. Ive not been using the car much over christmas and journey planning to do round trips, cant believe how much even this has saved me on petrol.

Happy moneysaving new year to you all, Kay

  • So jealous about your chooks, they have been on my wishlist forever, lovely to be rehoming some ex batts too:D :A , are you going to post some before and after pics for us?, ex batts are usully in a terrible state until they start getting looked after properly.
If more people saw the terrible health they endure then they may think twice about buying eggs from caged birds.Eggs are the one thing i will not compromise on no matter how much I reduce the budget, would rather do without.
