what's the butter like? I use it a lot to make tablet, so wondered if you have tried it before? I got the countrystrife butter when that was on offer.0 -

I'll get some tomorrow. Thanks for that, I'm now excited about buying butter, especially since I have the big mega fridge now.0 -
:hello: Hello all you busy, chatty frugalite people. I see some have had their pancakes - DS made ours for supper, I'm a sugar & lemon person and they were lovely.
Had a surprise delivery today - my Appr0ved F00d order! I wasn't expecting it for a few more days and had checked Google this morning, which said, 'not yet shipped'. It wasn't much but I was delighted with what I got and most in date! All this bulk buying is wrecking my month to month spending budget, though, and I feel completely spoiled having brand name fresh fruit juice, cooking sauces and health bars. DS was asking if we were going to be living on rice and cous cous meals! :rotfl: Suffice to say, my new pantry is filling up quickly and I haven't even done a 'big shop' for my tins & pasta yet. (Umm... yes, I did get some of those fruit & nut T0bler0nes just as a special treat, didn't everyone?)
I decided I had to cut down on my electricity costs by turning the storage heaters down and am going to try relying on the log fire a lot more. I have estimated that if I can reduce my electricity budget to £1000 for the year and increase my log & coal budget to £400 then it leaves me an extra £100 to spend on presents. :T
Love the barn, SM but, like you say, don't fancy trying to heat it  Hope you had a great day.
Ram, good luck with your offer on the house! :j Exciting times all round here these days!
Look away if you don't want more veg-growing talk :rotfl: It's to do with frugal living and how to live on a budget - it's frugal organic food production, afterall. We got quite a bit done in the garden today. The duck house just needs the doors hinged (it's going to be posh) and the hen house just needs a door. Tomato plants transferred into pots, planted more seeds - chives, parsley, early carrots, onions and snowball turnips. Everything is under glass or polythene. The rhubarb seeds are sprouting en masse, the second crown of rhubarb has awoken and I should have enough lettuces to feed the local village all summer by the looks of things. :rotfl: I'm also doing a trade this week - a spider plant, and elephant ear begonia and an envelope of marigold seeds harvested from my flowers last year for posh variety of tomato seeds and seed potatoes - Inca Andean long tomatoes and purple 'Truffle potatoes'. Looking forward to seeing what they taste like and will be 'babying' them along to make sure they grow.

Thanks for that, I've just signed up too. :T
My Mum has been getting them for a few years now, she just orders them 3 or 4 times a year, and they are the best chocolates I've ever tasted. They're quite rich though, so you can't scoff the whole lot at once :rotfl:0 -

This is the kind of bargain I never see, is that for 500g? Wow! We need to pay 80p + just for St0rk, which is cheapest available. I use lard in bread and even it has gone up to 60p. Good spot, SM! :beer:I reserve the right not to spend.

I think I've got mice in my living room ceiling(more like elephants). The thought of them is making me feel sick. Can anyone tell me how to get rid? where would I put traps.would I have to lift the carpets and floorboards of the bedroom above? Going to ring landlord tomorrow but they might take a while and the thought of them being here longer is making me ill. This is the 2nd night I've heard them but there sounded like more tonightlost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013
