    It was the free one.

Avira scored 95.54%, Avast 93.78% (behind AVG), and NOD32 93.36%.

Hardly the best source of Av comparisons , although the guy does test free and trial versions , which may give an indication of effectiveness but also a
    sense of false security.

Avast actualy failed the Dec 2008 Vb 100 test but only on a false positive ,
while Avg , Avira ,Eset passed.

    VB 100
    Av comparitives
Always follow the path of least resistance.
  • Have a read of the following thread for a discussion of Anti-Virus software. To summarise I'd say my choice for a free AV is Avira AntiVir.

My choice for a paid AV would either be ESET NOD32 or Kaspersky with, for me, NOD32 winning.

Must be its poor detection rates and sluggish performance.

So I am not the only one having trouble with AVG then. I have run with that for years and just recently it has not upgraded as it should. On my advent I reloaded it again and do everthing they asked but it still says out of date to minutes after doing it. Does anyone have any tips as to what I have done wrong please or should I change to another one.
    Happy Christmas

Change to Avira AntiVir, or Avast if email scanning is required.
