Hi Pinksparkle
We have been on a DMP for almost a year with Payplan. ANY problems with any creditors.....just speak to Payplan and let them do their job. Do not be put under any pressure to pay anything extra off any debt, and yes your creditors will try this. But just say to them, you are on DMP and Payplan are dealing with everything. Toffeepenny is right in one of her posts, she says that your attitude changes towards your creditors and you " toughen up ". I now know and say, that I am doing my best, we are paying what we can afford and we can't give them what we don't have.......its as simple as that. Do not give another £2.66 to anyone.....if you have £2.66 to spare, then save it for an emergency..... Good luck and things will eventually settle down, just take a look at my signature......:eek::eek:

Hellooo! Hope everyone is well - we seem pretty positive and upbeat at the minute on here which is great and long may it continue!
I have started receiving letters from creditors 'as they are obliged to under the CCA ' which is really useful in giving me up to date balances. Apparently they will be issuing them every 6 months and I don't have to act if I am on a DMP. I was able to log onto CCCS today and update some of my balances, knocking off another £300!
Every little helps!
Hope you all have a good weekend x:idea: Jan 2008-Paid 74% of debt as of MAR 2012 (DFD - APR 2014) DMP Support Thread Member 154  DFW Long Hauler 116:grin: Official DFW Nerd Club 928- Proud to be dealing with my debts :grin:0 -
Hiya everyone, have been reading this thread with interest the last couple of days and would like to join please.
I had my appointment with CCCS yesterday and they recommended a DMP for approx 10years  which seems like forever but hey its to be expected I guess. I also had my appointment with Payplan today, and am waiting for their advisor to call back with their recommendations in the next few days but am thinking their advice will be the same, so I was wondering if anyone has any advice as to which one is better to go with? They both seem lovely on the phone, so I dont know which is best???
I am scared that I could start this plan and if creditors dont agree end up owing more than I do now, and never really getting anywhere so I guess I'm just confused at the minute, any help or advice greatly received
Thanks everyone0 -
just when im getting myself sorted, and my dmp is getting ready to begin in feb/march, ive been saving up emergency funds and cutting back loads on food shopping etc. then this happens...
in december when i realised i was in a financial mess i got some advice from dfh who i agreed to set up a payment plan with, then i looked on here realised you could do a dmp for free with cccs, so i cancelled my arrangements with dfh - or at least i thought i had. i sent them a letter to cancel within the 7 day cooling off period and i phoned them - they seemed fine with me cancelling.
Anyway yesterday i checked my bank online only to find that they have taken a payment off me!!!!!!!! i realise now that i must have had my new bank account details on their paperwork - i had previously checked my new bank account and thought there were no standing orders set up, but they just werent showing, because obviously i would have cancelled it if i would have seen it there.
Anyway i have phoned them and there was no-one there and im planning on sending them a letter. I remember on the paperwork from them that it said if you cancel within the 7 day cooling off period then that is fine and any funds taken will be returned - but i am just a bit worried as i have since found out that they are a bit shady - so very worried about not getting my money back - it is over a hundred pounds and i will really struggle without it this month.
Does anyone have any advice on how to word my letter to them?
Im just a bit down as im really trying to get everything sorted with cccs and now this has happened, hope its not a bad sign

Suzie almost sure it should be 28 days to change your mind.
Just phone them first thing monday and they will have to refund payment.
Re-read any paper work you sent them.
I have to confess, i have told you all before about a yr ago, but im not with payplan or cccs, im with a private dmp, but they have been so wonderful that i decided not to swap over, mainly because im lazy and i never had to do any leg work..no letters, phonecalls ect they did everything and phone me weekly to see if im doing ok.
And on my original paperwork is said i had 28 days to cancel so you should be fine.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -

Hi blueisthecolour - dont worry about how long it will take you to become debt free - you are on the right road and doing something about your debts and thats what matters. I found it scary just totting up what we owed but now feel much more relaxed so much so that for the first time in ages I fell asleep last night at 9pm on sofa - hubbie put me to bed and only woke up at 9.15am today :rotfl: lazy or what - but it just shows just how much all of this had been playing on my mind and not letting me sleep properly.
Good luck with your DMP
MNMDMP starting 1/3/09 - thanks to CCCS & MSEI am now proud to be dealing with my debts!Big thanks to everyone on the DMP Mutual Support Threadyour support has inspired me to get this sorted once and for all xx0 -
Thanks MNM, You're right, the time doesn't really matter I suppose, its being dealt with is what matters, the length of time scared me a bit, but have to be honest and say its obviously not going to disappear over night so should have expected it really.
Once its up and running I will be happy, as long as the creditors agree, thats the bit that worries me, I have been making token payments for several months and all bar one are OK with that, stopping interest etc, I just hope the final one agrees to stop it with the DMP, otherwise the whole thing will be pointless.....
Am glad you slept well, thats a good sign, I know what you mean about not sleeping, so I hope you get lots of nice sleepy nights now0 -
Hi blueisthecolour - I am a little nervous too as I am just about to begin my DMP - all paperwork sent now with a start date of March (gives me a months money to pay huge gas/electric bill - thats due in any day now). I have been managing to scrape together enough to make minimum payments on most of my debts for the last few months with selling bits n bobs on ebay so this is gonna come as quite a shock to most of my creditors - but I cannot pay them any longer so what I havent got they cannot have. I know that we got ourselves into this mess and we could have gone down the road of bankrupcy and just left them all with nowt - so in my eyes they have got to understand that we are not trying to run away from the debt - we just need time to pay so hopefully they will all stop interest and charges etc. Fingers crossed xx
I have decided that I am not going to worry about it any more - if in 4 months the main creditors cc's are not playing ball and have not stopped charging interest etc then I will defo be reviewing my situation as if charges are still being added it will take me forever to pay off and there is no way I am having this lot hanging over me for longer than necessary. I dont want to become bankrupt but if needs must then I will - got everything crossed that I wont have to and I can be debt free in just over 9 years.
So I guess the ball is in their hands now xxxDMP starting 1/3/09 - thanks to CCCS & MSEI am now proud to be dealing with my debts!Big thanks to everyone on the DMP Mutual Support Threadyour support has inspired me to get this sorted once and for all xx0 -
Hiya i am on a few of my debts, one getting £30 over the min payment, Halifax are the only ones who now say my account is in good order and have started applying interest again...im not too worried about this as they still dont contact me and the ballance is still going down.
4 of my creditors will be gone in May so the Halifax will then get even more so ballance will go down fast ever though interest has started to be applied again.
how does that work? Aren't all creditors payments over the same period?0 -
Hi eveyone
I have a question, I don't really get statements any more, RBS send them occasionally (which is how I found out they were still charging interest though they had said they would stop) but have not had anything since well before christmas off most of them.
Thing is how do I find out an up to date balance? Is the only way to phone them? Was trying to avoid this for obvious reasons.
CCCS said at my last review I should inform them of current balances.
I don't have online banking facilities with any of them.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. Wondered what everyone else did.
Thanks.
I use my credit report but that also includes interest so the balances are higher. No need to let CCCS (or payplan) know as they don't alter figures unless theres a 40% difference. Plus you can't want your DMP balance to increase & your DFD to go up do you lol0
