Ebay seller sent item twice!

First for me:

I bought a phone from Hong Kong; the seller sent me two.

Obviously they want me to return the second, does anyone know where I stand legally?

The right thing to do is return the second though I shouldn't be inconvenienced or have to pay for the return. Normally I'd go out of my way to be helpful but the seller has already treated me poorly (not replying to emails prior to delivery) so I don't feel oblidged to be super helpful.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Find out how much it'll cost to post and tell the seller to send you that much money before you'll post it back.

As you say, their mistake, you shouldn't be out of pocket.
  • Hi, it's the sellers problem not yours. Ask him to send you a prepaid return and then you will return it...........

Tell them to send you a prepaid package to send the item back to them.

This does seem like the easist option, I'll try and get them to do it this way.

    Cheers.
  • You can state to the seller that you will have the item ready to collect from your house within a certain period of time, if they do not collect then it is yours.

Yeah, if only I had slightly fewer scruples. It's a £600 unlocked iphone too... few would complain at being sent too many of those.

    A real two!

HK is one of the few places where Apple sell officially unlocked phones.

To be honest I've bought a fair amount of electronics from eBay via HK and never had an serious problems. Some delays, poor communications and now a double-post, that's all.

You are obliged to return it, but at the sellers expense - if its worth £600, then they may like to get DHL or someone to collect at their expense and your convinience.
