BT £75 Connection

Anyway of getting round BT's £75 for a line charge?

Just moved into rented digs (where the previous tennant has not bought a line) and have been told I have to pay £74.99 up front to connect the line.

NTL/Telewest are not in the area. Have tried getting heavy on the phone to the sales team but had no luck.

Anyone got any ways of getting round this, or will I just have to reluctantly shell out. >:(

If you're not bothered about net access on your line, go to Carphone Warehouse site and get a Nokia 7600 on 3 network for £4.99 per month, giving you 500 mins of cross network minutes a month for 12 months and 100 texts............
