  • Do yourself a favour and NEVER order anything from a company called Two Left Feet. We have had an appaling experience with them and I'm keen to let as many people know about this so they don't make the same mistake as us. The story started on a Sunday afternoon as we tried to order a Phil & Ted's double buggy from them. Everything was going well until the payment processing page which said "Protx were unable to authorise your payment" ... "You will not be charged for this transaction".
Fair enough, happens occasionally. We tried 2 more times, but got the same error. Then we tried with my wife's debit card - same story. Wierd. Then we tried with my credit card - a slightly different error message this time (syntax of request was not understood by the server). Hmmm, well, never mind. We'll simply call them up on Monday.
On Monday we called them to find that all 5 orders had gone through! About 1100 pounds had been taken from our current account and 380 on each of the other cards we had used. We immediately cancelled all our orders with them, but were told this had to be done in writing by email or fax. So we did that and then called our banks.
The banks were amazingly unhelpful. The couldn't or wouldn't stop any of the payments as we had authorised them.
The ecommerce handling company Protx denied there had been any problems or errors, even when I sent them screenshots (thank goodness for cacheing).
Our cancellation email to Two Left Feet went unasnwered until we started telephoning them. Then they agreed to cancel all 5 orders and refund the money. However, they are under no legal requirment to do that immediately and apparently have 30 days to do it. That would take us to February 5th.
So where we are is nearly 2 grand out of pocket for January. How did this happen to us? Is there any way we can expedite our refunds?
  • My daughter ordered a pushchair from 2 Left Feet, said to be in stock, at the beginning of November 08. By the 19 December they finally admitted it was not in stock & promised a refund. Despite promises no refund has been made. Letters & emails are not answered & there is no phone number. Details however are available from Companies House! AVOID ANY DEALINGS WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR MONEY! By taking your money when there is no prospect of getting your goods in the time stated is fraud in my book! How they are able to continue to get away with it is a mystery. BBC Watchdog have featured the company & there are numerous negative comments on other forums. I wish we had taken notice of them!
  • Hi, similar story. Ordered 29/11/08, did research after problems and wished I'd never ordered. Cancelled order on 5/1/09, but this 30 day loophole is the real problem. (Incidentally daughter arrived on 15/12/08, and no travel system!) They are a completely immoral and despicable company, and have no intention of giving money back.
What I found out from threads on mumsnet (just google Two Left Feet and these discussions come up) is that after the 30 day limit you can use the Money Claim Online service to register with the Courts Service. They charged me £35, but accepted my claim against Two Left Feet, and they have now served the company with my claim (including the £35 court cost). Two Left Feet then have 19 further days to refund the money, or the court will take it to the next step. Companies want to avoid CCJs, and so this action, drastic as it may seem, should achieve the desired results. It's easy to do online, and I hope to see the money soon!
I ordered the items that I needed from Mothercare on the day that I cancelled the order with Two Left Feet, and received them within two days. Hope this info can help someone. This company makes its money from preying on people at a vulnerable time in their lives, and for anyone who is researching them - DON'T DO IT!

My wife was going to use them but she had second thoughts http://www.uktoystores.co.uk/twoleftfeet.html
  • Add me to the list of those of who have been ripped off by this company!!!

My story...i ordered a pushchair mid november thinking it was next day delivery, as soon as i realised i wasnt (within minutes) i cancelled the order as I moved from the UK to Australia a couple of days after placing the order and the pushchair wouldnt have arrived in time.

I got a reply saying the refund would be made within 30 days...you guessed it no refund, now 3 months on and numerous emails later still no refund, a little tricky to try and ring them from here but it would seem its pointless anyway, so i think i will go down the small claims route.

Totally disgusted with their service, had to buy a pushchair when we got here so just want my money back, luckily we still have the english account from which the payment was made (debit card) so I WILL GET MY MONEY BACK one day!!

This company need shutting done, i personally am going to post my views whereever i can to spread the word..DONT BUY FROM TWO LEFT FEET
  • I'm another unlucky customer. TLF came up as the cheapest on Google shopping hence why I used them. Unfortunately, then I found out the problems people are having with them.

Ordered baby sling 31/1/09. Told would be delivered/dispatched in 10-14 days. It is now 26/2/09 and they don't reply to e-mails and have not contacted me since taking my money on 31/1.

    Avoid at all costs!!!
  • Oh dear!

I placed an order with TLF on Sunday for a Mountain Buggy for £344. It's supposed to be delivered within 30 days. Oh how I wish I'd looked at reviews for the company before I picked up the phone! Luckily I paid by credit card - I've spoken to CC company who've given me their Disputes and Chargebacks address, just in case. Fingers crossed I won't need it.

That'll teach me not to research a website before ordering!!! GRRRR, so CROSS with myself!!!

It's probably worth everyone contacting Watchdog about these issues - I saw a bit of the Watchdog article dacouch mentioned, and they managed to speak to the TLF owners, who seemed keen to put things right. I'm not sure how genuine their desire to help is as they blamed computer problems for the failure to deliver - but this was the same excuse they'd given some months ago and they still haven't sorted the problems yet they're still selling online.

I saw the watchdog episode too, and the owner seemed utterly clueless. He came across as having very few management skills, and no idea of how to run a business.

I don't think they've deliberately deceived people; they're just incompetent, and it was probably a small business that became rather big, leaving them clueless!

Nice to see they'd spent all that money on their premises though!!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
