The problem is tesuhoha that we do have a limited amount of sympathy / attention span here, and then we like to move on. So traditionally we get an occasional hard luck story, thank it a lot and say "oh dear, that's a shame", sometimes offer a helpful suggestion like "have you tried the debt forum" - and then we get back to other things. Kind of keeps the forum from getting too samey if you see where I'm coming from.
In other words, I'm alright Jack, so who cares about anyone else. Well, I'm sorry to bore you about the plight of the people whose houses are being repossessed. But that was the reason for my OP because a lot of you so obviously couldn't give a monkey's.
I shall now exit this thread and leave you to carry on in your smug, contented, safe little world.

You haven't answered the question. Do you beleive all the figures quoted on your example site.
Am I wrong then that London taxi drivers earn £50K+, am I wrong that my dentist must earn treble the £31K quoted as his childrens school fees are £34K a year and he lives in a £700K house.
Have you had work done by tradesmen or are you just saying you wouldn't pay them those rates.
I think you are a dreamer. I know my figures are correct, I know these people.
You quote me salaries of people you know and not from web sites.
I haven't looked at all the figures and even if I had would not be able to comment on their accuracy. I thought the wage for a plumber seemed a little low. £35-40k in my experience is more like. Previous posters have put plumbers at £75k-£90k. I don't know any earning anywhere near that amount, and I know a few.
I am a tradesman myself and have a good idea what other tradesman charge. If there are plumbers earning £90k then they will no doubt be in a minority and probably of the type you see on Rogue Traders.
You may think I am a dreamer. I do dream of gullible clients who would pay me £200+ per day but my conscience would prevent me from ripping them off.0 -
Tesuhoha - Not all of the regulars on this board have safe, comfortable lives but there has been a completely different way of posting threads evolved on the board compared to say 'The Arms' as it tends to be more factual than emotive.
Quite a few of us here just like to deal with the figures, discuss them and move on...without the emotions (although we do express sympathy etc at the time but move on pretty quickly).
It takes a little time to get used to but it is a pretty friendly place once that happens...it's just a little adjustment in the posting style to the normal.
Edit - My brother is a taxi driver (not London) and he earns around the 12-13k a year area.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I don't think that you've got the right, or that Martin would approve of you using that logo, to bully someone.
Actually, I'd say you're trying to bully others. Your indignation towards others who were savvy with their money is bordering on bullying, for a start.
It's not anyone's fault but your own (and your husband's) that you're going to have a miserable Christmas - simply put, if you had been more savvy with your money, you might find yourself in a much better situation now.
For instance, you say that you paid your daughter through University, but you and your husband don't earn that much. So...why? She would get her fees covered by a loan for three out of the four years, she would get a loan of sorts (I can understand topping it up...) too - so what possible excuse have you got for squandering money like that?
Before blaming others, what about taking a look at yourself first? From Poland...with love.

I think passive-aggressive bullying such as tesuhoha is doing is actually worse than the rational statements and questions she has found here. Is she ashamed of her behaviour? I very much doubt it and I strongly believe she just wants an argument. It's standard for internet fora that there will always be somebody coming along and making statements designed to provoke heated discussion. If the OP actually had difficulties or actually wanted help then they'd go to the appropriate board and start reading and posting. There are many people worse off than the OP, they cope. Sometimes life is tough - deal with it.0

I bought when house prices were low, that make me a good investor not a vulture. I feel sorry for those who are struggling through no fault of their own, but those who emptied the equity and lived on credit to have things they didn't need reated their own hell.Barclaycard 3800

Frankly I am finding this thread really very sad. It`s about time that we realised that we are approaching times that makes us ALL feel rather vunerable. I won`t get repossessed as the house is paid for. I could lose my job tho and at my time of life, as with the OPs husband, I would find it difficult to get anything else. OK, for me right now, my retirement funding is doing very badly. Another cause for worry.
Yes, I am sure that there will be some bargain properties but sadly some of these will come at a cost of personal misery. Please take that on board.
I understand just how frustrating this whole carped up property hpi has been. I have mates who looked, well to me, total prats a few years ago prattling on how much they were worth because of there properties. All mortgaged and little other savings. It has been a nightmare for many. How many times did I try and talk the youngsters in my family and their friends not to buy. Worked pretty well bar one. Hope 22 year old girl and boyfriend manage to keep their £200k match box!
The shadow of greed has stalked the West. Screwed up thinking. Bad reasoning. Vested interests. A mirage, a bubble which is bursting. Bail outs here and there. It`s all gone horribly wrong!0
