Asda shop completed, total cost £78 plus £4.50 taxi home. Expensive items were:
    Six bottles orange squash £6
Five bars of Extra Special dark chocolate £6
    Large bag pistachios £7.30
    Large bag yellow daal £2.50
Four packs Birds Eye chicken £4 (offer)
Two packs Extra Special sausages £3 (offer)
Two packs Extra Special burgers £2 (offer)
Four fresh fish £3 (half price)
    Two blocks healthy cheese £3.10
Two blocks Seriously Strong cheddar £4 (offer)
    Dozen free-range eggs £2 (offer)
    Muller Corners £2 (offer)
    Nivea shaving gel £2 (offer)

AND the Energy Saving Trust were in Asda so I got a free tea towel and two more low energy light bulbs. All in all I am pleased as the freezer and the fridge are both absolutely rammed! Have had to throw away some fruit and veg this week - fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, plums and bananas: must try harder! Tonight we are having burgers and salad as the lettuce badly needs eating, and tomorrow mackerel and stir fry vegetables. Not really sure what to do with the yellow daal ...

Cooked the mackerel yesterday, but Mr. Fire Fox felt ill so nothing got touched. Also made a strange concoction - Thai yellow lentils with grated carrot, peas and red onion - which, tho overcooked, was quite enjoyable.

But the big news is that it is payday :j including about £150 overtime! And I received my college transcript getting 70% in the only module I actually completed (mitigating circumstances for the rest). As this mark is entirely based on an exam that I sat whilst signed off and ran out of time during I am very pleased. :o Attempted three GlobalTestMarket surveys this morning earning another 40 points, and a YouGov survey earning 50p.

Today a huge pot of beef bouillon paste (£8 worth!) arrived in the post - I feel some French onion soup coming on - and an e-mail telling me that the £5 Saros survey payment is in my Paypal account. :D

Spent £14 in Home Bargains on
    Schwarzkopf hair dye £4
    Oven Pride £3
    Ritz crackers 60p
    Heinz hidden veg beans 40p
    Heinz ketchup (large) £1
Amoy szechuan sauce (large) 20p!! :money:

Been onto Nectar to enquire about the points for the Lakeland order I placed just over a month ago, and while I was there clicked through to Amazon and spent £59 on a Cuisinart electric grill (free delivery, double points, paid with vouchers). Then clicked through Topcashback to Maximuscle spending £70 (four for the price of three, free delivery, £6 voucher for next order!).

    End of month accounting
    Income £1005
    Essential outgoings £503
    Non-essential outgoings £326

    Paid into savings £250
Overdraft still at nil (BUT a cheque hasn't cleared ... )
    Bills account £650 in credit
£112 still on my Amazon account
£100 cash still left from last month's rent!

It has been a very strange month financially - an unexplained addition to my service charge debts of £400, a debt to Yorkshire Water of £480 written off ... I've spent £829 of which £318 is service charges, £158 was on the house and £105 on socialising (mostly the 'wine cellar'!).

Had the last of the Thai lentils and some leftover rice for lunch. Got my subscription renewal for Moneywise magazine in the post and I can get it cheaper online!! Cheeky ...

Went to Morrisons after work with a colleage spending £10 including two whole cooked chickens reduced to half price.

Ate a little over half of one chicken last night, and stripped the second this afternoon. Enough meat for three more meals and an enormous pot of stock simmering on the hob. Added one of the raw chicken carcasses from the freezer, but chucked the other as it absolutely stank.

Checked all my survey sites and everything I have completed has now tracked, as has the Maximuscle cashback of £8!

Tonight's meal is leftovers soup: chicken bits from the carcasses, rice noodles, some freezer-burned sweetcorn, the last of the spring onions! :T Edited to add: and some limp beansprouts!

Your leftover sound delicious - any ideas what I can do with a drooping carrot, hairy cheese & a jar of reggae reggae carribean curry sauce?

By the way - our local Asda has the Levi Roots sauces on offer at a £1 a jar at the moment & they are really nice. normally over £2 and they have a long date on them - I have stocked up with .....several of each, but they're a good buy as all kinds of stuff can be disguised as good food with them
