Hi yellowmonkey,
I am just here to add my best wishes and support for you.
As an inexperienced newbie I am not going to try and comment on your SOA but I would like to say that I know just how you feel with being older and never missing payments until now!
I am 52 and have scraped together minimum payments for my creditors for months and months often going without to do it. All the interest rates on my cards have gone up over the last year and I have finally decided that enough is enough.
Well done on making the decision. My date is sooner than yours - when I rang I was offered 6th Jan - I nearly fainted with the shock of it being so soon so I asked for a little while longer.
I will read your diary with interest....
Keep posting!

Seen your posts and follow with interest. Will look forward to seeing how you and the rest of the January club progress.
Good luck for the 6th

Payday today.
After paying everything for next month I am left with about £98. That has got to cover my MOT  . Mind you i have allowed more for food, petrol etc and try to get into the mindset of budgeting.
I am hoping to get a bonus at the end of Feb and this should pay my BR fees otherwise I may struggle to get them together.I did get xmas presents today so perhaps this month was not a good one to try to budget for everything ie car tax etc.
Co-op gumf arrived today. Set up online banking but my surname was spelt wrong so that had to be changed. Not planning on using it until after BR so no sweat really.
I cancelled my standing order DMP payments today. That felt really weird hovering over the confirm button and once it was done I did feel a bit strange and guilty but that soon passed when I realised I only had £98 to last me the month. How on earth I would have coped if I had to pay £250 DMP fees as well.
Early night tonight as I have work in the morning but luckily have got Xmas day and boxing day off .
Wishing you all a great night and a happy Xmas

Morning all.
Hope you all had a great Christmas and are all refreshed and eager for the year ahead.
Had Xmas day and boxing day off and am back to work today and it is really busy. I had a bit of luck though as I won £100 on thunderball Christmas eveso that bumps up my available disposible income for January to £120 as I am trying to get in the habit of putting money by for birthdays, car tax etc. I have allowed £330 for grocieries and £180 for Petrol so should be OK. Long month this month as I have already been paid so long way to go yet.
Having trouble sleeping at the minute as I am thinking ahead to my court date. A while to go yet and I have yet to have my creditors phoning me as they will not realise they have not been paid for January. Feel a bit guilty about that but hey ho.
Have a great day and will catch up later

Hi YM. Don't worry about your creditors phoning, there is nothing they can do before March (except hassle you!).

Thanks for that FYP.
Just panicking that they will get heavy and take me to court before BR

YM there is nothing that your creditors can do to you between now and March. Tey are pretty toothless. So please try and relax and sleep and don't feel guilty.
