Hi Little vics,
What about a pavlova? Though you would need to buy cream and fruit to top it.

You could do a golden syrup sponge pudding (and do it in the microwave which is super fast) but maybe that'd be a bit too heavy/filling?0

Depending on how many chocolate drops you have you could make some form chocolate mousse, or a lemon one, or both and give people the option. I know some recipes call for cream or gelatin but there plenty around that only use eggs, butter and sugar. You could add some of the nuts to the chocolate one too.0

Pancakes. Then use some of the ingredients to make various fillings - oh and if you have something in your booze cupboard - liquers, brand or something, add a dollup of that too.0

oooh - choc mousse it is! Hoorah!0

If you find you don't have fridge space/time to make mousse, I'd do a hot chocolate fudge pudding. Basically you make a chocolate sponge mixture, put it into a souffle-type dish and pour a mixture of cocoa powder, brown sugar and hot water over the top. It looks dreadful when you put it in the oven but turns into a hot, light, chocolatey pudding with sauce underneath and comes out looking and tasting fabulous.0

Ok, my budget has been put on a drastic diet again, with in healthy limits my food budget can be cut back to £15-20pw (thats 1/2 adults and 2 children) It wouldnt hurt me to loose a few lbs so im quite happy to skip or eat dust for a meal, lol. We survive fairly well on pasta dishes, pies, stews and rubber chicken
But im after some good desert recipies, mainly for the kids as I dont have a sweet tooth. They are 8 and 4, they love my rice pudding and bananas and custard but slowly getting bored of them.

Hi lauren,
I'm a mean mummy who only does desserts occasionally. If my lot fancy something sweet after a meal they help themselves to fruit or yoghurt, or can have something from the baking tins (biscuit, traybake, slice of banana bread etc).
Inexpensive desserts I can think of, off the top of my head are rice pudding, quick microwave sponge puddings, baked apples, or fruit crumbles and cobblers made from tinned fruit or fruit that is about to turn. Jelly is cheap and kids love it made with added value tinned fruit.
This thread has lots of dessert ideas that may help:
