Not legal. HID lights need a power wash system and auto levelling.

You have some other options in standard bulbs like philips x-treme power and osram nightbreakers. Often available quite cheaply on ebay. See http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/230061/lightbulb_test.html

lol i acutally knew that, but forgot, case closed!
  • from reading on other forums

for the price , yes cheapie chinnese ones seem to work very well in most cases , with the odd failiure , way powerfull compared to halogen

nah not legal , some claim they get no issues dazzling people and swap over back to halogen at mot time

But how would they know whether they have dazzled oncoming drivers or not?

Car's with projector headlight units do not dazzled oncoming drivers because they are designed for these lights, they direct the light onto the road like a standard halogen with standard units. I have this kit with angel eyes projectors, the brightness is just brilliant. The best output is 50/55w, this is the best at this moment, cost £50 delivered from ebay.

The phillips +80% xtreme is the best for standard halogen, I had them before and it's a big improvement on normal bulbs. However the HID xenon is on a completely different level. Once you have this on your car you will never want to go back to halogen again.

  • There are some vehicles out there with lights so bright that it's very difficult to see anything as they approach. Dangerous in my opinion.
    Happy chappy

I have read a good few stories on forums of people with factory fit xenons being issued tickets for having "illegal bulbs" with the officer not entertaining the fact they are factory fit and legal. I'll bet there's many more illegal users they managed to fine but they don't post on the net to complain about the police being wrong
