The fire alarm is outside my kitchen door, the microwave was smoking and the alarm went off, i couldn't turn it off so i was bashing it with a hammer, it now bleeps. The thing is i can't find where the battery is

If it's a new house, it could be hard wired in. My house is 6 years old and all the smoke detectors are hard wired.
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0 -
Is it wired to the mains?
If so then please use a rubber hammer and wear wellies next time you bash it :rotfl:Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
No it's not, i've looked all over it and had a fiddle, there is no battery i tell you, it's like stuck to the ceiling.0

I don't know!
My parents have a mains one and I spent half of Christmas day on step ladders trying to figure out how to stop theirs from going off every time my Mum burnt the melba toast

How did you manage to stop it bleeping?

it didn't beep, it just kept going off.
Ours beeps for about 10 minutes after it's gone off but it's supposed to do that apparently.
Why don't you Google for the make of your smoke alarm and see if there are any intructions on't web?Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
Yikes, just looked at the top box, it says "warning: exposes live parts" It also says mains powered smoke alarm built in rechargeable cells
I didn't know, i had taken the top box off ages ago as i couldn't put it back on
Do you think it's best to call out an electrician in case the house still blows up? :eek:0 -
Does it twist off, some smoke alarms are connected to a bracket screwed to the ceiling or wherever it is and you screw the main part from it and the battery will be inside, failing that, is there a little pull out drawer on the side of the main housing.Kimberley wrote:How did you manage to stop it bleeping?
