recent events have finally taken their toll, I know that if i can jump out of bed in the morning, shower and take my son to school I'll be able to cope with the day ahead. But already tuesday my son stayed at home cause I couldn't face going out the house. Today I did manage to get him to school but then came home and crawled under my duvet.

I just feel as though I'm watching the clock ticking away waiting for death. Sry but can't face seeing the doctor again and this is the only other place I know where I can let my feelings out.

Let the feelings out out as best as possible - here, in a journal, write a letter and then burn it - whatever helps get it out of your system.

Sounds like me about 3 years ago,it will get better, stick in there and post in here, how old are you Ssssss

just turned 44 and haven't worked for 2 years, last year off ill with depression and this year unemployed, too early to retire to old to start all over again in a new job, really can't see how things are going to get better.

Even if I do find a job I really have no idea how I will cope as it was my last job that set of my depression, for 6 months I took all the crap thrown at me my colleagues, kids as young as 24, but the final straw was when one guy told me 'to go f myself ar5e hole' when I asked him for help. Management did nothing to make things even worse.

Im 44 too and I know what you mean. There is no way I can go back to work and yet they've stopped my benefit. I keep trying to think of something I can do to make some money, perhaps selling stuff on Ebay, but its not easy making a decent amount by buying and selling.

I used to be as bad as you are describing too. I couldn't take my kids to school or collect them. Luckily my parents did it for me. If they hadn't my kids would have stayed at home. The minute I put my coat on even just to go to a local shop for some milk I would break down crying and shaking and just couldn't do it. The only thing that helped was the antidepressants. Of course, only a doctor can give you proper advice on this.

Can you get Incapacity Benefit? You qualify if you are too ill to work and if you paid your NI contributions whilst you were at work. This can help take the pressure off - it did with me.

Otherwise, just come on here and offload. We all understand. Hugs to you.

The thing with going back to work after or with depression is it is not just for the financial benefit but also the sense of achievement, feeling worthwhile and being part of the community again. A great stepping stone on the ay is perhaps a couple of hours volunteer work for a charity shop, animal shelter etc. If you're lucky it can even lead to a paying job in the future but as I say, it's not just about the money.
