This is good to know as I have somehow ended up with a pile of honey jars that I need to use. I've used it to sweeten the lemon filling in lemon meringue pie with great results - but never in the meringue itself yet.0

I had 4 egg whites left over from dinner so I decided to make a meringue which is now in the oven.
How long will it last for and how do I store it?
I know you can freeze them - do they need to be bagged first?
Thanks for any help!0 -
I think I'd store in an airtight tin. Not sure I'd need to store for more than a few days at most as they'd be eaten!! If you decide to freeze them they'll need to be in a box as they'll get crushed easily.Resolution:

Hi beemuzed, thanks for the reply - not sure how to fit a pavlova in a tin! should have thought of that before I made it so big! Definitely would have been eaten for breakfast this morning
but we're doing DIY so I wanted to keep it for when we'd finished!!
I might crush it up to store it then. Thanks for your help.0 -
certainly don't wrap it in cellophane as my friends husband did with her lovingly made chocolate pavalova!:D Boy was he in trouble!:rotfl:

Oh my it's yummy too. It was perfect, but it did crack overnight - but that isn't a problem for me. http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4258/pavlova0

Hi,
I am making meringue for the very first time - it's in the oven as I type!!! The mix went well, very glossy, BUT it's gone a little brown as it's cooked, even though it's in the middle of an oven on the recommended GM2.......is this OK???? It looks 'right' just not pure white!!!!
Any advice/suggestions, gratefully received.....thank you !!0 -
mine always go a little brown, if your worried put it in the bottom of the oven or just turn down the heat and leave it in for a little longer0

Thanks Kaya - it's done, it looks lovely, just a little golden brown! Next time I'll put it lower in the oven. Thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it x0
