Internet access when Xbox is on.....

Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place - feel free to move:
My wireless connection is disconnecting frequently in the evening, and sometimes takes quite a while to connect. When Xbox live is connected by ethernet it takes even longer to reconnect laptop to wireless, as soon as Xbox live is turned off the wireless on laptop connects straightaway again. Have tried 3 different laptops - happens them all, with one worse than the other 2.
Has anyone any suggestions? I assume my settings are the problem? I can work most of the day (with the odd disconnection, but connects straightaway), and the Xbox doesnt be on during the day, so I think there is some conflict with the Xbox.
