Domain name registration - recommendations

Hi.

I need to register a new co.uk domain name and then transfer it to my hosting company (they are US based and don't offer .co.uk TLDs).

Can anyone reccomend a company that that is cheap and offers WHOIS privacy as standard or a low cost. I'm looking for <£10 a year for the domain.

Many thanks all.

If your hosting company doesn't sell .co.uk domains how can you be sure they will transfer them. Every time I've had experience of attempting to transfer .co.uk domains to US based registrar and hosting companies they physically weren't set up to accept them.

Unless you don't want to transfer it and merely use it to forward to the hosted site. By the way, I'd have said anything like £10/year was very expensive for a .co.uk. I personally use https://www.ukreg.com (https://www.fasthosts.com).

  • Yep, your correct.

I meant to say the US site doesn't allow co.uk registration so i'll be using them just for hosting.

I had a quick look online and co.uk names go for about £3/yr without any WHOIS privacy. They then add on another £5ish/yr for it! I'll have a look at your link.

I believe the privacy feature is free with .co.uk domains on ukreg.

  • you could also try: 123.reg.

I see nowhere on the ovh site where it says exactly what you do or don't get. Also poor English throughout the site. I won't be using them, free or not, because of this and since they demand your mobile number.

I use One&One and they don't charge for privacy.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
