talk talk

Options
Hello, i have been reading up a bit on how to escape from talk talk unscathed and it doesnt appear possible. My 18 month contract expires in Febuary so i wanted to switch over to sky. Obviously i have discovered this is not possible as i need to have a BT line.
Looking at my options i cannot move to sky now without having BT for 12 months and at £125 that means my "good" deal is worse than all the others i turned down! Is there anything im missing or is this the case

this is the info at the exchange:-

Thanks

In theory as long as your Talktalk line is still active when you migrate there should be no charge to return to BT's network. It will be classsed as a new connection though so you may find providers charge for broadband provision.
Again in theory any provider who offers a line installation service should be able to arrange this without the need to go via BT retail.
Whether you can find someone who knows what they're talking about at Sky or indeed any other ISP is another matter.

    Hi thanks for the reply.

i would have thought that sky (and others) are loosing customers this way? seems a bit odd that they will not offer a line installation themselves.
So if i do go back to BT it will be better to do asap after my talk talk contract ends in case i can get away with the reconnection charge? How long are lines kept active for?

Sky do appear to arrange line connections now so certainly give them a try.
Your line remains active until such times as you instruct talktalk to stop it not when your contract ends.
Lack of clear guidance from Ofcom makes migration from LLU a bit of a nightmare

1.6 If you have chosen to take Sky Talk Line Rental and you do not have a BT compatible line, we may be able to arrange this for you and you will need to pay Sky a connection fee. We will inform you of our current connection fees at the time you book your installation.
