Getting new cam-belt kit fitted-water pump as well??

  • Read on the PUG spares site that the cam change is every 5 years/36000-whichever is sooner.....have had car exactly 5 years & done 30000 miles in it! As the Peugot 1.5 engines are said to be so good hopefully I can 'future proof' it for a couple of years!

Phoned the garage & they say approx extra £60 for part/labour to fit pump....excessive or not?? Seen pumps on-line for £25....??

There are probably water pumps even cheaper than that! But we wouldn't fit them. Make sure the parts are reasonable but not cheap. You do get what you pay for....

It may be worth pricing up genuine cam belt kit and water pump - just out of interest. Quite often good patten parts are not cheaper than 'genuine'.
Shop around but be aware that there are some cr*p products out there.
