I think your theory sounds perfectly feasible Mathew and whats the betting that the perpetrator doesn't even own a car.

His theory is perfectly feasible but there is no evidence for it.

If his theory is correct then there would seem to be a very good chance the perpetrator owns a car.

If my theory is correct the chances are probably smaller.

The OPs choices appear to be:-

    a) park somewhere else.
    b) carry on parking there and see if it happens again.

    I know which I'd do.

I cant offer any advice, but I can sympathise with the OP. I have been the victim of this cowardly vandalism on 3 occasions in the past 6 months, although my car was parked on the road outside my flat. My only solution is to park my car elsewhere at nights, which is a pain in the !!!!. I would suggest parking somewhere else...

I doubt it would be a resident, regardless of how annoyed it makes them when people park on the street, it's more likely to be kids with nothing better to do, unless you have proof who did it you can't specifically say whether it was a resident or a wild child.

Ultimatly not alot you can do except try find a cheap way of getting it repaired.

If the car had recording cameras installed I think you and many more people would be surprised to see who did the deed. I would suspect it is an "adult" who lives in one of the houses. Some people are a bit thick and think they own the road outside their house and don't want a car parked there, even if they do not have a car or need for parking there. When I look for somewhere to live I'll be looking for somewhere with decent parking as street parking when chances are our household will often have 3 vehicles needing parking will no doubt just rile the neighbours.

But I do agree the only solution unfortunately is to park elsewhere unless you really want to go on a crusade and install covert recording cameras in your car to get some evidence. If there is such a parking problem in that area the council should put restrictions in place and make it permit parking only.

For some reason people are more likely to damage your car than to punch you. Just shows how much of a coward they are.

In my experience the reverse has usually been true, apart from one instance. And think about it, if you own a car, are you going to park up behind someone else's car and key it risking a revenge attack on your own?
  • This kept happening to a neighbour of ours, his porsche kept ketting keyed, the owner set a camera up and it turned out to be his neighbour in his 80s who was the one blaming all the kids!
i've got a guy like this over the road from me, the road outside his house is his apparenltly, and as alternative parking on a blind bend is acceptable

i didnt even have english flags on my car at the time :rotfl:
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

Don't agree;) . I think its more likely to be residents of the street with cars than those without who take exception to the OPs parking.

How is there a risk of a revenge attack unless the OP keys every car in the street 'just in case'?

I seem to be making a habit of disagreeing with folk at the moment:confused::D .

People get very territorial about the road outside their house, even though they have no special right to park there beyond anyone else's. It is all part of living in an overpopulated and overcrowded island.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Sorry to hear of this unwelcome act of vandalism.

Unless I've missed it, the Police haven't been made aware of this criminal act.

Do make sure it's repeorted & recorded.

You never know, they might have arresteed someone, doing the same thing to other vehicles & already have the culprit locked up.

I'm not being sarcastic, either. If they've not been told, it'd be hard for anyone to stop it.

If someone parked outside my house but was gone before I got home from work I really wouldn't care, but then maybe I'm not as small minded and petty as some...

But you would care if you got home and find those cars are still parked in your road everyday??? Perhaps not to the extend of keying those cars?

I think the percentage would favour a resident who owns a car who keyed your car. Residents are correctly put by ioian07, very territorial. I live in a street that is 30 seconds walk to a train station and commuters always pack up in my street. 99/100 times if I get home before 5pm I have to park in a different street. As residents we get very !!!!!! but I don't think any commuter's car has been keyed, so it should stay that way.

It's wrong to vandalise someone's car but you should take care parking in that road now, as next time it could be your windows that gets smash or slash tyres.

I totally agree, some areas have real problems with very very inconsiderate "migrant" parkers. My daughter has a town centre home. Nearby is the local technical college. In term time it is a nightmare to try and even access the estate. The bin lorries frequently have to abandon the round and if ever an ambulance or fire engine had to attend?, well?

They have the house up for sale as a result of this, have they damaged cars?, no, would I have done? I'll leave that to you:mad:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
