Hello all moneysavers this is my very first post allthough i have been looking on this site for a long time now i must say martin this is one of my most favourite sites so thankyou and thankyou to anyone that helps me with my queries its much appreciated. so on with the problem. I have Aol broadband and also have sky multiroom installed in my home. My first problem is i have to have a phone line trailing from upstairs sky box to downstairs phone socket which also happens to be the same socket i have to use to connect the broadband to. so off course i have to have a two way adapter so i can connect both at the same time but when i have this arrangement the broadband will not connect which is the problem so i have to take out the adaptor (which is very annoying every time you use the internet) and just plug in the broadband which means that upstairs sky box line is not connected and therefor sky are complaining to me and saying that the subscription which is a reduced £10 a month for multiroom will go up to full price. This one is baffling me please help!!!!
my second problem is my home phone is next to the computer and when both are being used you get a terrible reception on the phone which means turning the computer off when the phone needs to be used(another annoyance). i suspect that the computer is interupting the signal off the phone but not sure as this never used to happen. i would be extremely pleased if any of you can solve any of the problems im having and thanks alot to you all for adding to such a superb website. Not sure if anyone can help me here I have a similar sort of problem my broadband connection is plugged into the same socket as my sky box and normally I have no problems. Bot at certain times of the day I cannot connect to the internet as it tells me their is no dial tone and at times this can go on for an hour or more at a time. I was wondering if it has anything to do with the digibox dialling sky to update etc especially at the moment while they are upgrading the sky guide. Any help will be ]most appreciated. Thanks:A If I could think of a decent signature I would use one :A

i have that sort of problem with my broadband as well, it sounds like there is interferance on the line but when u turn off the router it goes away. Ive spoken to Bt who a re my ISP and they say it nothing wrong with the line, they have even sent me out a new router and new filters but it has not cured the problem..... i have now given up as its been like it for the lsat 7 months......Savings Total so far for 2026: £0/£10,0000 -
It maybe condensation or damp getting into the connections, I would have
a look outside and see if any holes are in the sealant around the cable that
comes in through the house, I would also take the cover off inside the house
to see if there are signs of rust on the connections..
If so a new box is needed and BT can come and fit that.0 -

Well techincally, there is no dial tone with broadband but what I guess your computer is trying to tell you is that there is no longer a connection to your ISP via broadband. This can happen at peak periods, usually due to too many users and not enough broadband to go round. Alternatively, you might have a faulty microfilter and it is indeed the sky box causing the problem. The easiest way to find out is to unplug the sky box from the telephone socket when your broadband connection dies, and see if broadband comes back. If it does, plug the sky box back in and see if the broadband dies again.0
