Yep mine worked straight out the box... though I updated the firmware last night from 2.3 to 2.7 (thought that might be causing the two lockups I've experienced).

Is it worth upgrading the firmware? Mine seems fine. Do you get any advantages with latest firmware?

Not sure - couldn't find a log of what changes they've made but on both journeys where I've used it previously it locked up and failed to respond. So I'm hoping this has cured that problem.

    Hi,
Perhaps Im asking for too much but is it possible to use the PDA as a hand held GPS for hiking.
Is there software to emulate a hand held GPS with the snail trails and compass features.

    John S.

You can use the PDA as a GPS while walking and it will give directions if you are within its maps but it will only give you your position I think if you are in an unmapped area.

Thanks Dan29 - I updated using the webupdater tool which just downloaded and updated all by itself... didn't download a specific version. Looks like several lockup issues have been dealt with in recent updates.

Ellesmere Port had 5 last Friday after I bought one at £99. It works great but I failed when I tried to download from the website. They asked for a code number (said it was on a separate piece of paper in the box but it was not. Nor was there one in the other boxes in the shop.). Am I missing something else you you other guys have got to access the download?
where abouts in ellesmere port are they? Also did they have any of the PDA's in?

    Thank

It does have a Digi Walker mode . . . you just need to select it when it asks about the type of vehicle you will be using.
