Moderators - please check replies!

It would be good if moderators, when deleting or editing a post, could check to see if anyone has quoted it, or said anything in response.
Yesterday, someone suggested a course of action, someone else suggested that this course of action was effectively lying, and I posted explaining why it wasn't lying.
Then a mod deleted the post suggesting lying, but left my response which must have been confusing for anyone reading the thread afresh, and made me look rather stupid (something I don't actually need any help with
).
So, please, mods, if you delete a post or edit it substantially, check that no one has made a subsequent post that not make sense after your deletion/editing!
