Virgin Media - Avoid if you rent...

I signed up for Virgin (Broadband and telephone) 6 months ago after myself and my flatmates were not happy with the service we were getting from our provider (Talk talk) at the time. It has now come to the end of our tenancy agreement and as much as we would have liked to stay in our current place we could not agree a suitable increase with the letting agency for the new rent of the coming year. We've found a place and once the agreements had been signed (last week) I informed Virgin that I'm moving.
They also can't send an engineer round until Mid Jan which is really frustrating as I'm staying in my new place over Christmas, and would have liked to play around etc as you do on the internet.
They have also said that as I'm moving I'm also going to have to get a new 12 month contract. The AST for the new place is 9 months, which means that if the same thing happened to us again as in our current place we would once again have to sign up for another 12 months or pay upfront the remainder of the contract.
If you're renting be warned of this. Check the T&C's for moving house before signing up as it could prove to be very costly if you can't change providers and you have to move before 12 months.
Needless to say I'm really angry with Virgin, for the length of time they are taking to get it back up and running and suddenly springing on me that I have to sign a new agreement.
