Hi Guys
I am asking for ideas for christmas day tea, I have family coming back to my house for tea and would like some ideas on what to serve up? We are all going out for christmas lunch so will probably be stuffed but I want to have a nice tea in case anyone is hungry, I do intend to cook a turkey and slice it for cold meat but other than that I am stuck

We always stick with the snack approach. Cold meats, pickles, apple, cheeses, crackers, potato salad. Fill up the plate and perch by the fire.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

christmas in our house wouldn't be the same without a plate of hot or cold cocktail sausage rolls.
many years ago I had a little boy who used to say he was hungary when he could smell the christmas dinner cooking, so I did him a big plate of sausage rolls, and ever since it has stuck, small sausage rolls all round then, although my little boy has grown up to be a big man now, he still loves his sausage rolls at christmas.
its a tradition.

Cold meat, pickles, tomatoes, bread and butter and mince pies in this house (for anybody who wants any) - usually about 6 hours after lunch. Though the 'lunch' has become more of an 'evening meal' these days0

mum is 'doing' Christmas this year and I've encouraged her to keep it simple. Christmas cake and mince pies of course, just some nice bread, a lump of cheese and some pate. Less stuff to get out, nothing much to clear up and no leftovers to deal with when the fridge is already full.[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Definitely finger foods in a buffet style where everyone can get as little, or as much, as they fancy.
We usually have open sandwiches available i.e. salmon, egg mayo etc. We absolutely MUST have Christmas cake and maybe a trifle if anyone fancies a pud. Looking forward to it already!0 -
I must say that our christmas dinner has become more of an evening meal as well over the years, although I do, do a good pate, home-made bread, bread sticks, soft cheese, standing pie with pickle, christmas cake and mince pies all home-made ofcourse.
for christmas supper.
Merry Christmas everyone.

We make a pot of homemade veg soup and leave it on the stove everyonr then helps themselves toas much or as little as they want.
We have the part baked bread in the oven to go with it
And what doesn't get eaten on christmas day is eaten for lunch on boxing day when we get in from our walk.:happyhear YUMMY MUMMY TO HENRY BEAR AGED 10:happyhearslimming world need to get back to target 25lb to goDisney World here we come May 2018:j0 -
We have a late lunch, about 3pm.
Then we have turkey sandwiches on sliced white bread about 7, with warmed mince pies & tinned chocolates.0 -
We have gammon, cheese selection, crusty bread, crackers, pickles, nibbles etc and this is more than adequate after a mammoth Christmas lunch. The good thing is that the leftovers, if there are any, can go back in the fridge for Boxing Day teaGrocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Another vote for snacks 'buffet style'. Cheeseboard & crackers, pate, etc, some chopped veg crudites.
My mum always does tinned salmon sandwiches - it is her little tradition - I think from the days when tinned salmon was so expensive it was a real treat! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"
