Virgin Media believe their is room to increase Broadband Prices.

"Consumers will maintain their spending on high-speed internet access in a recession, Virgin Media's chief executive has predicted on the eve of this week's launch of a "super-fast" 50mbps broadband product.

"Broadband is not a discretionary spend," said Neil Berkett, adding that the US-listed UK cable company even saw scope to increase prices in a market that only recently appeared defined by price wars between the likes of Carphone Warehouse, BT and British Sky Broadcasting."

was always going to happen, we should see cheaper prices for 2 & 4MB ( & eventually 20MB ) though considering these product speeds are avail on most BT/LLU lines, 20MB - 50MB customers will subsidise the lower end where Virgin has competition on price & speed via BT exchanges

LLU is getting upto 24MB and that LLU roll out is happening fast due to BT's investment in 21st

good news all round I say but for the longhaul, Virgin will be premium for top speeds not avail anywhere else & thats fair enough, for my usage - until I buy BlueRay & discs get cheaper my £5 Orange Broadband Unlimited 6-7MBPS for 40GB will keep my surfing, you tubing & downloading going
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

    Perhaps not their CEO said

"it would have to test the market before being confident about the potential for price increases on its current products. However, there was "room for some positive movement" on pricing in broadband"

rules of being/having the premium product is sell for what you can, bottom scale at competitive levels & hope a lower grader upgrades to a premium plan

to be honest 20meg is pretty pointless, you can get a 90min film in 3.6 mins, what advantage does 50meg down give you.

now 10meg up is a different matter, that speed would give you reliable video phones amongst other things, the 1.5meg I have heard virgin gives you barely covers the tcp/ip packet overhead

the 20 meg package does what it says on the tin.
And if you are in a house with only one comp then maybe 5- 10 meg is ok .
We have 4 comps running most nights and an xbox360 jumping on the bandwidth on the odd occasion.
It is easy to use up once you start getting it.
