e-mail

or phone 01189838298

to order prepaid bags to send them in

Every little helps and I thank you in advance.

I have recently become a puppy walker and to see how much it costs to train one puppy has encouraged me to encourage you to help

I wish someone would pay to teach me how to use my phone!

yeah a qualified guide dog costs over £40,000 by the time it goes to its first owner, in the dogs " working life " all vet bills and food are paid by guide dogs and the owners who get disability benefits pay a initial 50p ( for tax/charity laws ) for the dog & pay nothing throughout its working life - this puts immense pressure on guide dogs as most owners are against paying for the dogs food which GD would like to change that but a lot of GD owners are reluctent to pay for anything other than 50p for thier " assistance aid "

really talk about having your cake and eating it!

" we want a dog but no costs, we want to pay the 50p to assist our lives
but we refuse to pay the dogs food even if guide dogs pay the vet bills & £40K training bills throughout the dogs working life " - these people are recieving money from benefits to cover thier disability expenses, so your tax pays for the dogs food already - GD wont tell you that but would still like your donation to pay for the food ( again ) instead of being stern with its clients and saying no pay something yourself incase they upset the clients, god forbid upsetting them when the long term future of GD is in danger - " i know lets restructure and sack 2/3rds of long term loyal staff " was the trustee boards decision to save money, all so not to upset the clients :rotfl:

while 2/3rds of guide dog staff lost thier jobs in the last 18/24 months due to financial constraints within the charity, the majority of owners complain about that but also dont want to pay for dog food, while pushed to the limit volunteers are now doing the jobs that paid staff used to do, its one messed up charity..........

To personally own a guide dog ( general public can go on lists ) you pay £200 for a guide dog that didnt make the grade or is retired early with all further costs to yourself, I would'nt give them a penny personally as the charity is clueless in how to run, and thanks to people like cheekymole who keep it going cos the trustee board of GD dont know thier !!!!!! from thier elbow, this is the inside view of GD

still most people grab clubcard points for old mobile's, still good luck with your quest though

seaniboy, thanks for your input but the dogs themselves aren't t fault and I'm sure you wouldn't want to see them starve?

    There is also a website

    https://www.recycle4guidedogs.org.uk

Hope you are more successful with that lisalou

  • It's ok, I've just rang them for some as I noticed on your link they take old ink cartidges too.

I agree with your comments above wholeheartedly, the dogs are not to blame and nor are those who rely on them. A great many charitable organisations have huge flaws in the way they are run but that by no means results in them being any less a worthy cause. A friend of mine works for RSPCA and moans constantly about their internal running but I still fully support their aims.

they will never starve but that maybe GD downfall, not to ensure future generations get GD's, your fundraising is admirable but all the fundraising nationally per year doesnt even cover the food bill let lone training, staffing & vets
