I have turned over tens of thousands with paypal and never had to prove anything. Also never had a problem or chargeback. Only the negative sides to paypal end up on here.

let me just throw this one into the mix, another example of how bad this company are. When i used to sell on ebay my monthly fees were around £900 per month, more than my mortgage.

after i walked away from ebay and hadn't sold on the site for about 2 months i noticed a direct debit go through my account for £700, i went to my bank to enquire and they said it was paypal....strange since i had cancelled the direct debit with them and no fees were due...surely just a mistake, no big deal i thought, so imagine how shocked i was when the cashier at barclays advised me to keep an eye on the account as they have so many people reporting that paypal are resetting cancelled directs debits and taking money from peoples accounts. Not the kind of thing i'd expect from a company that claims to be the "safest way to pay".

All i'am saying is be carful, if you think i am the exception your wrong check out paypalsucks.com you'll be shocked.
  • Hmm yeah... you had a chargeback against you then, as paypal don't take money from your account to pay fees- they are taken from the payment.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I don't wanna be seen as being anti paypal, i dont like them as a company, i paid them thousands in fees and the service and treatment i recieved was dreadful, i'm not alone, not by a long way but i am not here to bad mouth them, i just read this post and thought i'd point out that the op did not have to accept paypal's account freeze (providing they were not doing anything wrong of course) and it only takes a few clicks of a mouse and £25 (reclaimable) to get the money unfrozen, i stand by this but people replying to say they have no problem with paypal is really pointless, if you don't have any problems and they have never frozen your funds thats great for you and i sincerly hope that you never experience such problems with paypal but my post was there to advise those that WERE experiencing unfair treatment from paypal.

i'm going to leave it there.

Very, very presumptious post....and very very wrong too
  • Just one more thing though for anyone reading this and starting to panic:
    https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_fees-rate-about-outside
Paypal's merchant discount which only appies to sellers who have recived more than 1,500 in the last month... so don't worry if you hit 1,700 - it doesn't equal a instant freeze. ;)

Ok i'm really readyto drop this thread now but i'll answer your question out of politeness, you're wrong because i did not have any chargebacks (presumption 1)
Also i meant there was no ebay selling fees due (you thought i meant paypal fees, presumption 2) paypal hit your bank for ebay fees if you dont have enough in paypal.

so as i said, your post, very presumptious and very wrong.
  • Not presumption- what you said.
Ebay and paypal are different companies.
Paypal did not take any money, maybe ebay did, but that is like buying a mars bar and complaining about pedigree.

I am clarifying this for the new sellers who come here confused, not as a petty argument.
    Night :)

i don't want to get into petty arguments any more than you but sorry, i can't ignore that rubbish.
First to quote you, "paypal did not take any money maybe ebay did" How do you flamin know? it's my bank account were talkin about here

And "ebay and paypal are two seperate companies" true, but ebay own paypal and share information back and forth, if they don't how do they know to release your funds when a buyer leaves a positive feedback under their new rules??

And finally "that is like buying a mars bar and complaining about pedigree"
no. NO, NO, NO...it just isn't, i mean do mars own pedigree? and if you pay your ebay fees through paypal then paypal will hit your bank account if there is not enough in your paypal to cover the fees, that was what i was refering to.
Mars & pedigree, ebay & paypal..........you just can't compare them, sorry.
