THey've replaced one flawed system with another.
Well exactly - it seems like it's not necessarily a new algorithm, more an imposed penalty if you rate how you used to.
it's going to look really good for the influx of newbies from the daily mirror article - they'll wonder what the hell is going on

Whilst I thtink changing the system when you have some major national press isnt very clever, [in fact its bloody stupid, you will get thousends of people coming in looking at the forums and seeing chaos]
I dont think there is too much of a problem in the change, You now cant hedge your bets to ensure a 3/4 star scout. You have to actually put what you think. In the long term good scouts will be ok, bad ones wont.
what used to happen was people would rate 4-7 knowing they might be a bit out but good enough to get good accuracy.
Now its 0-10 with a penalty for not using the range. You are much more likely to get the rating wrong so good scouts excellent scores really have value.Unsecured Debt [STRIKE]11,000 ish [/STRIKE]Feb 08 ok honestly more or less 12,000 and no more Credit available

Which is fine unless you do get a run of completely average tracks.
I'm all for encouraging use of the full range, however, a song that gets a 10 as a rating by the majority of listeners is going to be from an artist that really didnt need STP in the first place!0 -

Well, I ended the night at an accuracy of 87 something, up from 85 at its worst but from 94 this morning, so their suggestion that 'a good scouting' will get you back to normal is, ahem, b^llocks. However, i am back at three stars, so at least I am earning the money I was before.0
