My parents divorced and I can remember being bought clothes one xmas (I was about 14 and divorce was not common when I was a kid) and they did not fit. They were taken away to be replaced with appropriately sized clothes...I'm still waiting!
No wonder I ended up not speaking to my dad for years.... one of very many incidents BUT it wasn''t until he treated my own kids differently from each other (he was a dinosaur who thought boys more important than girls) when I FINALLY cut him out from my life. So the grandson he was so proud of never knew him. Funnily enough he already had a grandson he didn't bother about but I was the eldest daughter and had been a real daddy's girl growing up.. He was a philanderer anyway - he met his 'new ' wife while still married to my mum - why would I want my kids to know him when I have my lovely dad (stepdad) DD dotes on him and quite right too...those who love us and who we love are far more important - and deserving sometimes than our 'blood' relatives.
I told my 'dad' about two/three years ago how much he meant - and means - to me. I wasn't the most amenable of stepdaughters - for many reasons BUT he has been loving and patient and kind and does jobs for us all now. And he has his own natural daughters he has never given up on despite many difficulties thrown in his way. But we never feel 'second best - I love to see his face when my DD runs into his arms. He is godfather to two of his 'grandchildren' - and he hasn't had the easiest of lives himself.

Valli - I'm almost bubbling away, re-reading this morning. There wasnt anyone else involved in my breakup. He is just an @rse. Unfortunately (fortunately?) DD is now 15 and is starting to see him for what he really is. I'm just feeling so sorry for her that I picked such an eejit to be her father.

Right - I am heading to the Gyle and will check out the Disney store and get them to check with Princes Street.

    See you all later xx

    Good luck soappie.

Hubby up early this morning again but did manage to get back to sleep, thankfully he's in tomorrow to see the doc so he'll have to say then.

DD still not well so will make an appointment for her tomorrow at the gp's.

Really need to go and get rest of pressies tomorrow and finish all the wrapping. So need to draw up a list of what still needs to be got.

Right need food then i'll get the wm started and get our room sorted today. Back later to update.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.
