Can I freeze cooked meat?
Comments

This is probably a daft question but here goes:
When freezing leftover cooked meat (say from a roast for example) how should I package it? My mum always froze sliced meat with gravy to cover it. I don't use 'from scratch' gravy.
Can I just bung the cooked meat in a sandwich bag / tupperware as is? I always hated my mum's frozen meat/gravy combo and would like to use the meat in other recipes.

We do it all the time. Once a week we have home made pizza i like veggie pizza but hubby likes meat pizza so i have a couple of small tubs in the freezer with different meats in and he chooses his meat of choice and sprinkles it on liberally!:D In our house pizza is always the final use for rubber chicken!:T0

            Hi,
My partner works in a supermarket.
They got a cooked joint of meat delivered - intended for the deli counter but as they don't have one it was sold of to her.
Its a massive cooked honey roast ham joint around 2.5kg.
can we freeze this meat as it is far too much for us to use in a few days?
we have sliced some up for our sandwiches for work and have made a pot of soup, any other suggestions? The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -
No reason why this can't be frozen, as long as it's not been frozen in its cooked state previously.#145 Save £12k in 2016 Challenge: £12,062.62/£12,000.00 Beginning Balance: £5,027.78 CHALLENGE MET

It will be fine to freeze, but make sure it's defrosted thoroughly before using it.;)0

when i had a pub i always sliced the ham into portion-type sizes, wrapped it and froze it. wouldnt want to freeze the whole joint though or you will have to eat it all at once.0

Providing the meat hasn't been previously frozen, it will freeze well. I have frozen ham many times (in portion sizes for making packed lunches) with good results.

Hi, was wondering (yes at 02.47am) what to do with cooked meat?
So if I cook a whole chicken, what should I do with leftovers? Freeze?
Same with gammon joints and such like.
Thanks x:j This year is my year 2009 :j0
