I have a Garmin 250 myself. I bought it because at the time of purchasing I felt that it was the best value, good quality sat nav with european mapping, and I am very happy with it. I am unlikely to need Eastern Europe maps and I'm sure there are many people who only need UK maps, so another device may be more appropiate for them.
I understand what your saying,
I specifically included "full european maps" in the title for those reasons. If you want these maps on a system at a good price then i thought this was a good deal.
If however you want uk only or west only then so be it. But its pointless posting cheaper uk only models on this thread in an attempt to compare to the sat nav in the original grabbit.
wanting cheaper uk only or a wide screen or what ever else then fine but its a different topic imo. I wanted full europe not west as it includes places like prague, adding eastern europe would normally be about 30-40 to a sat nav and i would rather not pay for extra maps so again money saved and hence the op.
but if i posted about a good deal on a speed boat i think someone would no doubt be along to show me a better deal on a canoe. not exactly like for like and the clue is in the title.
maybe i should of used a title like this;
"Although sat navs have different features and maps at different prices, heres one i found which has some things you may or may not want at a price which might be cheap depending on what you want. Discuss."

I think this is a good deal right now, and I do want one with Spain maps on it, but wonder whether some New Year sale deals might come out with even lower prices for something similar.
oh an the new Garmin radio ads with the god-awful American woman singing 'getta-getta-getta Garmin' makes me want to buy TomTom !!!I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!

While you are at it, why don't you steal the hardware from a shop as well? Then you'll have a completely free solution. Many of us know where to go to get maps of Europe, USA and other parts of the world for frrrr££££££ .

for £78 with free delivery i think this is a very good buy.

I've been pondering over buying this for a while, and I think your post might have swung it for me. I've got a Garmin 200, which is fab - locks on to satellite quickly, doesn't lose signal, great in London, portable etc. I've heard from others with TomToms that Garmins are superior too. My OH keeps pinching my satnav as he lost his, and he's keen for one with EU mapping so that we can go off on adventures around Europe.
So, I for one am glad that you posted this. Ignore the pedants.

I SO agree- the ad is positively creepy: as well as having to switch off the radio immediately, it puts me off Garmin completely.
And to think, some advertising agency must have been paid tens or hundreds of thousands to come up with that...0 -

Thanks OP - I've been looking for a europe sat nav for my parents and I think this might be the one I get.People who make these type of comments need to look at themselves carefully in the mirror
. I have no doubt that all the programmes you have installed on your PC are legitimate :rolleyes:
I'm not sure what my software has to do with a sat nav at a great price, but everything on my pc is legitimate - don't tar everyone with your brush

choose your satnav carefully when venturing into the more remote parts of Europe, a lot of these areas have yet to be properly mapped digitally, one was hopeless in the Finnish wilderness whereas another even had the logging tracks. Most of them try to take you via Kalingrad with all it's visa requirements towards Tallinn, they can get you in a right mess.0
