full europe sat nav

Just found this and ordered it,
its a garmin 250 with full europe maps (east and west) unlike most others i looked at like tomtoms and navman which just have western europe. In my opinion, you are better to buy one with all maps because of the high cost of adding them later. It scores well in reviews and having seen one in action is very clear and easy to use with all the usual features like poi's etc. its small enough to carry around on city visits and has a pedestrian mode so very handy for the travel enthusiast.
for £78 with free delivery i think this is a very good buy.

At £49 plus p&p I think this Navigo is a better bet, it will run just about any satav software from the SD card slot. tomtom, etc etc

It may run Tom Tom etc, but if you wanted a Tom Tom, wouldn't it be chaeaper to buy one?
As the OP pointed out, it's the mapping and software that costs money, not the "Hardware" - if you can get the hardware with all the maps you need, why buy further software and maps?0 -

so price including east and western europe maps and postage is?
and all the hassle and time to do it all.
as italiastar says, why buy cheaper hardware to spend far more on software?0 -
Pointless to provide options to others - ignore0

I concede you would need nerd tendencies to set up the navigo.0

I got the Garmin 200W (widescreen model) for £79 (£95 less £13 voucher less quidco less Clubcard point) from tesco direct.
Very good sensitivity or locking to satellite.
sounds a good price, does it have european maps?
erm, no.
not being funny, but i am starting to wonder why i bothered, If someone will just post a link to a road atlas at 99p we will have a winner.0 -

I know what you mean. This "I know a better one" attitude has put me off posting things a few times.0 -
hmm,
I thought the ' I know a better one ' attitude was what this forum was all about, its not a competition !
don't we share info so that we all get the best deal ? we can't all check all the shops and web sites, I post in the hope that someone does know better! that then saves me money.0 -
That is a great price for a Garmin 250, but I'm sure not many people need Eastern European maps.
I have a Garmin 250 myself. I bought it because at the time of purchasing I felt that it was the best value, good quality sat nav with european mapping, and I am very happy with it. I am unlikely to need Eastern Europe maps and I'm sure there are many people who only need UK maps, so another device may be more appropiate for them.0
