Yes, I've had two.
Wonderful, wonderful dogs - but not easy ! Hope you have a great time together.0 -
I havent owned one, I think they are very beautiful and intelligent dogs, but not easy dogs and not suitable for full time workers or novice owners.
A surprising amount seem to turn up in rescues, but I wonder if thats for similar reasont to dalmations - people fall for the looks but fail to consider that they are demanding working breeds?
Lots of impartial info about the breed and its temprement here -

I used to have one. Nice nature but unless you have high fences they will get out and wonder. All to do with hunting instinct, I have also owned German Shepherds and they do not need and fences because they are never more than a few feet from the back door. Also when you take them out and let them off the run for ages with a GSD a lead makes no difference because they want to be with you.0

I found with my two that they didn't need high fences, they just wanted to go where I went and be with me. They are incredibly loyal and when they bond with you, that's it. But the other side is, they can be over-protective and they are strong-willed. I had one for 12 years, then the next for 14 years. They are wonderful dogs - but like I said, can be hard work. I don't mean to put a downer on this, but I too have seen a few for re-homing. If the 'right' owner doesn't train the dog well, they can be willful, demanding and even dangerous ( worst case ). They are big & powerful.
Hope I haven't put the OP off

A neighbour of mine owned 2 Weimararners and they were an absolute nightmare! They would guard the property like mad, and if they got out they would go for people and animals. I once got cornered by them when bringing back my GSD from a walk. I was scared stiff! And a neighbour had to try and help me. They also have a VERY HIGH undertone to their bark (which reminds me of a seal). It really does go through me. There the type of dogs that people get purely because they look nice, and have them as pets, when they are in fact working dogs. They are very hard work indeed please take the advice that has been offered. Also it would definately NOT be a good idea to 'baby' this type of dog. If so you are in for MAJOR problems.0

thankyou somerset , I believe a dog is what u put into them ive spoken to many weimy owners who have them with young children and whilst its not easy in the puppy stage (it never is) they can live together and become best of friends :@)0

The neighbour now has another one after the other 2 passed away and that ones as bad. Same sound bark too! Also there was one on dog borstal tonight that had big problems ,VERY strong willed. You cant baby this breed of dog as the op seems to intend to do. If so then the op DEFINATELY hasnt done her homework!0
