How to clean baking trays/roasting tins?

When I cook jacket potatoes in the oven, I do it the Delia way (!!!!! skins, rub in oil, bake at 190 for 2 hours etc).
Problem is, this seems to leave a sticky residue on the baking tray which I can't clean off, no matter what I do. I don't know if it's the oil, or the juices from the potato, or the two combining to create some kind of emulsion... whatever it is I can't shift it. Vinegar, washing powder... nothing.
Any ideas?
The baking trays aren't non-stick, if that helps any.

I think it's the oil polymerising.
Bit of cream cleaner works for me.

I wonder what Delia does to the skins that resulted in the swearing filter taking effect? !!!!!!!!! I'm assuming that's what these are anyway?0

To avoid spoiling your trays, how about wrapping each potato in tin foil. I pierce each potato lots of times and sprinkle with a little salt before wrapping them.0

I cover the tray with foil aswell, jsut incase, hate scrubbing tins! One day I might be more organised...........

I use cookasheets, which I bought from Aldi a while back. They are heat resistant, although that didn't stop me from scorching the edge of one when it got too close to the gas flame! :doh:0_o0

Stabs them with a fork that sounds like stick :rotfl::happylove0 -
Glass pyrex dishes instead of baking trays ,I also part nuke them in the microwave first to cut down on cooking time in the oven.0

You could always then soak the baking tray in a stardrops solution. This should get rid of the residue. That's Numberwang!0
