Orange Network Connection Problem

Is anyone else having problems with Orange. I cancelled my contract which was costing me a fortune to go on PAYG, contract was to expire today, so installed the new PAYG Sim yesterday (11th Jan) at 7am and phoned up to regsiter. It is now 36 hours later and I am still not connected. I have been told a range of fairy stories about the problem. Can anyone shed any light?

have you tried switching your phone off take battery out for a couple of seconds the put back in and switch on, that sometimes helps it along the way 36hrs is quite a long time they say it could take 24hrs but i have never known it to be that long hope you get it sorted:cool:
  • Thanks, tried it but no luck. Now over 48 hours and still counting and no connection as yet. Orange say thay "are having problems with the network". Am tempted to tell them where to stick their network and by a sim for another carrier, but there is the nuisance of unlocking the phone and changing numbers! Suppose I'll just have to wait!

hi, i just tried to register with Orange myself on PAYG. The man on the other end said that I would receive 4 text messages over the course of the next 36 hours, and I should read then delete them. After these four messages, my phone would be working.

the phone message does say that they are experiencing problems, but i think 48 hours is way too long. my advice would be to contact them (it's an 0800 number) and give them hell.

Shout all you like you won't skip the que, there is no way to make it go any faster, ring up and shout and you'll just proceed to make the poor devil on the other end of the phones life more miserable! :o

They told me this evening that it is taking 72 hours due to a fault on the system - I am also transfering from contract to PAYG and will be without a phone for 3 days. I think that the fault is on the PAYG system as there is a recorded message on the registration line.
