Royal Mail Have Lost My FIRST Cashback Claim.

I have a 12-month contract with Orange, which I took through e2save where I reclaim a total of £384.12 in 4 instalments of £96.03 by sending them the original relevant bill, which corresponds to the month in which I am making the claim.
I sent e2save my first claim by Royal Mail Special delivery on 28/11/08 but it has not been delivered, I know this as I did a trace on RM’s website. Yesterday I phoned RM’s customer service to report it and they regard it as being lost. They have told me to fill in a lost mail claim form. The reason I sent in my claim by Special Delivery was that in the unlikely event of it getting lost I thought I could claim from them the £384.12 which I stand to lose as the service which I paid for offers compensation up to £500. Sadly this is not the case and I was told that all I can claim is the cost of the postage. I find this very unfair, as they are the ones responsible for losing it and their compensation of £500 means nothing. I have not filled out any forms yet or informed e2save but I have requested a copy of my bill from Orange at a cost of £3 (hoping that it will not say duplicate bill on it) as e2save state that you must send in the original bill then I will try sending in the claim again to e2save.
If anyone has any suggestions on what I should do then it would be gratefully appreciated. Many Thanks in advance.

A bit late now, but you should have paid the little extra for "consequential loss" insurance, especially with original bills.
The best of luck with your new invoice, I hope it works out.

1) Actually they should pay £34 compensation. 2) E2Save do accept copy bills, but they change what they say daily so you can't count on it. If it isn't a price-match deal the t&c don't SAY it must be an original. 3) Just because RM f****d up as is often the case, it doesn't mean that E2Save didn't receive it. Since it's very wise NOT to ask you MIGHT still get paid. Meanwhile, send the copy and learn from it. 4) You should be able to claim the remaining cashbacks even if you lose this one. Again, even on a price-match deal BUt with the same qualification. If I were you, if you do lose this one (claim dates are also key) I would not communicate with E2Save, but simply send the next claim off properly and see what happens. Methinks you will get paid for that and subsequent claims.0

They would pay upto £34 for the value of the contents of the envelope, as the contents of the envelope were a couple of sheets of paper you'd need consequential loss insurance to cover any of the amount (except maybe the proved value for the actual Special Dleivery Postage cost)0
