OK, i like the sound of this. I was given £10 tonight so will use that to get the ball rolling.

    Good luck everyone :T
  • Hi, I am new to this website and am really interested in this challenge - It sounds great! I neither can get my head round this match betting but going to read up on it!

Don't really know where to start with my £10, but could you please add my name to the list while i have a think.

    Many thanks
  • Question for those in the challenge:

Spent £35 in Woolies today on stuff to list on eBay. Do you think it would be fair to pick £10 worth of the stuff that I think will sell well, and count that as my starting £10?

Right, that link was fab!! I need help understanding this though. I input the odds for winning men at the Australian open. For Andy Murray got this from the calculator:

Back stake £10 (I put this as my bet) Lay stake was calulated as £7.94
Back return came up as £43.30 Lay risk was said to be £35.75
Back Profit as £7.55 Lay profit was £7.55

So, do I make money here? Whats the difference between back return and back profit? Is the Lay risk what I would have to pay out? Is it is then if I bet £10 and lay bet £7.94 (a total output of £17.94) - I can either win the back bet (so £43.30 - Lay risk of £35.75) = £7.55 OR I win the lay bet and lose the back bet. How is the lay profit worked out???

I need to place a smaller bet cos I only have £10 in total - I make a small bet now then bet with the free money. If I can work it out a bit better in my head then Ill defo go for it. Juts need to clarify that I get my £17.94 total stakes back PLUS the £7.55 profit

I am by no means an expert, and there is a massive thread on this somewhere, but fromthe above, you dont understand it.

you have to place your £10 for andy to win at the bookie to win the £43. and you bet andy to not win (draws dont happen in tennis but do in other things) at befair. they lay risk, is similar to the bet at the bookies. if he wins, you lose £35 on bet fair, but win £43 at the bookies so are £8 in profit (i rounded the figures to make it easier) if he looses, you loose your 10 at the bookie, but win (or take a bet of) 18 at betfair, so you are still £8 better off

Tennis is a bit iffy as different bookies have different rules (to each other) if a player withdraws (injury) in the first set. Football is probably a better place to start.

Agreed, was just that it was tennis that was mentioned (and essentially, there are only two outcomes)

Wren Legs. I interpreted your last post as :

Place Bet (back stake) of £10 at Bookies.

Place Lay Stake of £7.94 at Betting Exchange BUT have a further £35.75 minus the £7.94 sitting in an account at the Betting Exchange in case you have to pay out. Total required available to do this matched bet £45.75.

Either way profit would be £7.55. In one instnce the bookies pays out £43.40 and you "forfit" £35.75 at the betting exchange. In the other you "lose" £10 at the bookies but "win" at the exchange.

I don't think you can try matched betting on less than £10 because that seems to be the minium deposit required to get cashback through Quidco and to qualify for the bonuses why is why its recommended you have at least £50 to start you off.

Glad I'm not the only one going round in circles!
