  • Unfortunately I am going to have to withdraw from the challenge. My DM is ill and I need to concentrate on her rather than trying to make extra cash, certainly for the next few months anyway.

I wish you all well and I'll still be lurking!
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead
  • Sorry to hear that, Purple_Sparkles.
Question for those in the challenge:

Spent £35 in Woolies today on stuff to list on eBay. Do you think it would be fair to pick £10 worth of the stuff that I think will sell well, and count that as my starting £10?
I'd advise marking on the receipt or otherwise noting which items you've chosen as your tenner's worth for the challenge. I've done that with the items I bought at my local auctioneers' to sell on eBay. My chosen items are some old hunting horns and a mixed lot of mostly wooden stuff.

Well I've gone and done it. After asking a lot of annoying questions on the matched betting thread I've placed my first bet. £10 and £5 via Quidco and £10 of free bets at the bookies and the exchange. As long as I haven't screwed up I should also be £9.33 in profit from the matched bet itself. Thats based on a £30 outlay. £10 at the bookies and £20 at the exchange - £9.82 of it for the lay and the remainder to cover me in case I need to payout. I'm suffering a serious case of sweaty palms. Will need to wait until 5:30 to see whether or not I've really got it sussed.

    Quick update:

    £58 mystery shops
    £20 Quidco savings account
    £12 scratchcards
£5 Quidco matched betting offers (waiting for the £10 to track)

£10 savings stamps (to be used for Car Tax in April)
    £5 postage stamps
Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.50

    Hi,

Can I please join this? I have joined the make £10 a day challenge (although I am giving myself a nice gentle introduction with an aim of £5 a day in Jan) which will tie in quite nicely with this challenge.

    Good luck to all! :D
  • Ok so I tried the Prime scratchcards and didn't win anything, so I used the £10 cashback from quidco and bought a dress from Warehouse for £5. Just listed it on ebay - so fingers crossed it goes well to get the ball rolling for me. I am not going to do anything with my remaining fiver until the ebay listing has ended. Not a great start so things can only get better!! (unless the dress doesn't sell lol!!)

Panic over. Turns out I did know what I was going on about and have an extra £9.23 to add to my total. Only 10p less than I thought it would be.

Have placed another matched bet for a game on wednesday with a further £9.76 profit. I'm not going to place anything more than £10 anywhere then if things do go wrong its not a huge mistake. It would be very very tempting to place bigger and bigger bets especially as so many of the offers require several £50 bets to qualify for freebies.

Well done moo2moo. Not sure if the mystery shops count as you are really working and being paid a fee and expenses.

i think mystery shops came up earlier in the challange if you have to pay something like a mystery shop where you buy a meal for £10 then get the £10 repaid plus a payment for doing it you can count it. if it involves no outlay you can't count it

I got up to £35 then spent some in woolies i will let you know when i have posted and taken out fees how much i am on

Todays get rich quick scheme bummed although a local charity shop is £7.50 better off. They had a sale on with CD albums at the bargain price of 50p each. I bought 15. I have since sold 11 of them to Music Magpie for £8.72 leaving me four to E-bay and making todays profit a whopping £1.22p.
