What do you make of this site? http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!/manytearsrescue/index.htm *
I mentioned them a while ago, using cruel tactics such as squirting water on to an old deaf Cocker Spaniel, who was crying.

The site has an overabundance of breeding females and stud dogs.Too many pedigrees to be true.
Any thoughts, please private message me.

* ETA. Interesting that link doesn't work, TWICE!

Please Google "many tears animal rescue". They are, according to them, supported by Burns Foods. I will be in touch with Burns Mon. AM.

  • As far as I know many tears are legit - where did you hear about cruel tactics being used??

As I understand it they are a rescue based in Wales where much of the UK's puppy farming goes on, and they endeavour to rescue ex breeding b1tches and stud dogs who would often otherwise be PTS.

I think the link isnt working because MSE does not like the website hosting company.
  • Yep, they're a legit rescue that take on ex-breeders and any pups the puppy farmers can't home.

edit- nothing dodgy about them really, they're just like all other rescues, trying to do the best they can.

The link doesn't work because it is a free webs website and MSE blocks all free webs links.

As the others have said, most of the MT dogs are puppy farm rejects who would be PTS otherwise (and PTS is putting it nicely, compared to the way many ex puppy farm dogs meet their end). So of course they are predominanly pure breeds, that's what puppy farmers deal in.

I've never heard of cruel treatment at MT, they usually have an excellent reputation. But of course mistreatment can and does happen in rescues too, so if you have some evidence of it, please pass it on to the appropriate authorities so it can be investigated.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

From what I know of Many Tears, they are a perfectly legitimate rescue organisation. They take in dogs used for breeding from Puppy Farmers (among others) when they are no longer of any use for breedng and attempt to give them a chance at the decent life they deserve.

I would echo pboae - if you are aware of any cruelty going on at MT, then you should inform the authorities so it can be properly investigated.

    Im abit confused here.

manytears is a well known reputable rescue centre. Most people who have anything to do with rescues will have come across the name at some point. Even if this is the first time you came across their website,if you had read it you would have found out that they primarily deal in ex breeding !!!!!es and studs (pedigree dogs) to stop them from being destroyed. They also take in litters that arent up to scratch to stop the breeders destroying them - its all there to read on the site

So what is your actual worry?

And an incident about squirting water?

Sorry but Im just trying to understand what your fears are/were?

Best to climb down from that high horse Suki.

I was concerned about a rescue site but, was reasurred by those more experienced than me here, that it is legit.

Before MSE, I knew hardly anything about rescue, but thanks to most here, I am learning.
During posting on the 3rd of this month, I came across a little orange and white Cocker Spaniel named Bud. Fostered by Many Tears. Here is an exerpt from my post.
"Hah! I was just looking on a rescue site and there in breed and colour was a dog like mine. Age nine and very nervous it said. I was interested in this little fellow, till I read on to see that he bites anyone and everyone it would seem. Oh and the fosterer of this dog says it sits happily with her two year old grandson:eek: It is deaf as mine is, but cries for company, the fosterer dealt with this by first crating and when that did'nt work squirting with water.
Put that one to sleep too along with the fosterer.http://www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/in...howtopic=46987 his name is Bud."

Good idea would you think, to squirt a dog with water, crate it when distressed?
No of course you wouldn't. Nor me. I was tentativly offering the discussion up this evening to OH of little Bud.

I can't trace the dog Bud now. Best gone over Rainbow Bridge than to be shot at with water.
So when I came across Many Tears again, I raised my concern. Better that than turning a blind eye. See I'm learning!
Many Tears may be reputable but their fosterer's leave a lot to be desired, ultimately the responsibiliy of Many Tears. Yes?

    Many tears for Bud anyway.

As for selling ex breeding !!!!!es and stud dogs at £140.00 min. Why don't they lobby against this vile practise instead?

Are you part of them by any chance?
  • £140 for a rescue isnt bad, when you consider that they will be neutered, chipped and vacc'd, as well as covering their bed and board, transport to rescue and any vets bills whilst they are in rescue.

If you add up the cost a b1tch spey is about £125, initial vaccs about £25, Microchip a tenner, so effectively its a low price to pay.

I would be concenred about the water squirting too, best thing to do if you see something like that is to contact the rescue and ask if they are aware.

Hi FC, you up late too.
No it's not the cost to me, but if I take a dog on they are relieved of the cost. I would give any amount, just this particular set up seems wrong.

Another fosterer on there said the dog goes to sleep in the husband's bed!
What problems that will cause the new owner.

Mind, when our house was being built, we lived on site in a caravan. It was so darn freezing that my Cocker Spaniel then age 1, would burrow right down inside my bed to my feet. How he didn't suffocate I'll never know.

ETA. As for the rescue being aware, it was there in print.
