tesco tariff

hubby is on a tesco tariff pay as you go, and is pleased with it.
But i can't get the phone that i want for him on the tesco tariff
it's the samsung E250 wanted in silver.
I'm sure that i've read somewhere that you can get another phone on a different tariff (i'm sure i heard it was t-mobile) and that a tesco sim card will work.
could anyone just confirm this for me

Tesco mobile uses the O2 network. I have heard that Tesco sims will work in O2 locked phones but have not tried it myself. Other than that you will need an unlocked phone or one you can get unlocked.0
