Xenon numberplate lights anyone?

My sister, girl-racer car-mad type that she is, was behind a top of the range BMW yesterday that had really bright number plate illumination.
A quick Google revealed the bulbs were Xenons and now she wants them as an afterfit on her Ford Focus
Advice, links anyone? Can these sorts of bulbs be retrofitted to vehicles they weren't designed for?
(She has Xenon headlights and can't stop raving about them so me telling her to stop trying to waste her cash has fallen on deaf ears..........the way she drives, I'd have thought she would want less illumination on her number plate, not more, but who am I to argue?)
All advice will be passed on so thanks in advance :T

the focus rear number plate lights use festoon type bulbs. the bmw ones a re leds i think.
most will probably be illegal for use on the highway unless they have an "E" mark on them. but im sure as long as they are the right colour and emit enough light then i doubt she would get a pull. it could fail an MOT though.
something like this.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/a-pair-XENON-WHITE-39mm-LED-Number-Plate-239-Light-Bulb_W0QQitemZ180307003527QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item180307003527&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1299|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318
but before buying them make sure you have the correct length as there are a few different sizes....work permit granted!0 -
Your sister is being a mong. LEDs are very directional, festoon bulbs have a wide spread of light and are much better suited to illuminate a licence plate.
If she wants two small arcs of light on her numberplates, fine - expect a tug from the cops if they're bored.
Don't tell me, I bet she drives a Corsa or some other shitbag car, with a ZORST?0 -

Well it isn't a shitbag car (I like the Focus although I wouldn't buy one) but its still a mongish thing to do.0

Unless she spent around £300 on them, I doubt she has.0 -

And quite a few of the aftermarket ordinary bulbs that simulate the light colour from xenons either don't focus or illuminate the road properly and may dazzle people, and/or are counter-productive by generating more light power which is then reduced a lot again by the blue filter on the bulb envelope.0
