Halifax - EasyCash to Student Account in Branch - Even though Bad/No Credit!!

  • I totally understand how annoying it is for you because you have a good credit going in but it really is all looked back at your credit rating, if you defaulted on some payments and it was a regular thing then this will be on your file and will 'stop' people from giving you anything credit based.
Have you tried to get a copy of your credit file to see what is on there and holding you back? Wait until monday and see how it goes!
  • If you get declined on Monday it will most likely be because of your defaults (which take 6-7 years to come of your file). In this case make sure you work hard to keep all payments up to date and maintain a good positive balance from now on, as the longer you keep a good track record with the same bank they may change their mind a year or two down the line! :)
    Cashback Earnt so far in 2009: AMEX £133.93, wepromiseto.co.uk £67.07, Barclaycard £25, MobilePhoneExchange: £28. TOTAL: £254.00
  • Sadly I think they'll likely decline you.

I'm afraid I'd agree with this.

If you have defaults on your credit record as you mentioned, these are likely to stop a halifax account going through for up to 5 years, and as opinions4u said, the staff member will give it a go because if it does go through, they'll get points. If it declines, it's no consequence to them.

That said, Halifax also base decisions on how you've used their accounts previously, so as long as you've had a good regular income with no charges, that might boost you're chances.
  • Yeah thats true, well it doesnt matter too much if not, becuase I can manage how I am for the time being I suppose, would just be nice to have it.

I live at home at with my parents, not on campus, as I go a local uni, this makes it a little easier, as I give my mum and dad a bit of board when my loan goes in and I get roof over my head, and decent hot meals everyday lol. So its not like im starving in a little room somewhere like people I know lol.
  • No I havent had any charges, oh well, listening to what all you are saying, its best just to go on with an open mind and anything I do get, would just be a bonus to what I already do have really:)
