LOL, some woman just smacked her OH in the gob with a golf club...

My OH has gone white with fear!

  • Was enjoying X Factor despite my passionate dislike for Cheryl Cole and now she's on again singing that bloody Blankety Blank song:

'Cause you're gonna make me, gonna make me love you
Nothing at all, nothing that I do
    Blankety Blank, Blankety Blank'

Time for a bath to mellow out the fantasies I have of smacking Cheryl across the head with a toilet attendants bog brush.

P.S. Alexandra was stunning tonight on X Factor.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

  • OH has spent the evening making scones, and is bringing me one fresh from the oven, with a cup of tea :)

BB I'd look at sat-navs in the sale, I am not saying it will solve all your problems but I was quite scared of going to new places until I got it, I feel a lot more confident that whatever happens I can just press the 'home' button and get back okay.
  • I've got a kind of sat nav, but I don't use it. When I was on the Pay as You Drive insurance with Norwich Union, it came with free installation of a system where a button on my dashboard links to a call centre. When I press it, they ask where I want to go and then send through the spoken route. It was free for a month and then was either £10 per month or I could load it with £20 'credit' and then each journey is 75p. I've never bothered as I only do work, Charlie, supermarket.

It's very bizarre when you do use it and you suddenly hear a greeting like 'hello Keren, how are you? Where would you like to go?'

I've currently got free camera detection for a year (their way of saying sorry that the policy was discontinued) which is useful, but a bit of a pain as once within 50 metres of the camera, it beeps very loudly at you until you go under the speed limit - even 1mph over on approach sets it off!

Mine does the same Keren, so i opted for the tracking one instead..annoyed me with the beeps..i quite like speaking to them on the microphone:D
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:
  • I'm back........phew..........feel awful - you know when a relationship ends and your head hurts so bad with stress and you want to just cry for hours? That's how I feel now.

I got about 6 miles into the journey (started feeling nerves after about 3 as it was fairly new territory) and then knew I was driving further than I'd ever been myself in Dorset:o and started to get very scared. I then had to turn off the main road onto a dual carriageway and it was unlit. OH flicked my beam on for me (I think he could see it was very dark and I wasn't even thinking that I had a full beam I could use!) and I wanted to cry I was so scared. How stupid am I on virtually completely empty roads? :(

I'm ashamed to admit that is the furthest i've driven in about 9 years - it was 10 miles each way, along 1 main road and then about a mile on a dual carriageway.

As he got out of the car, he said I WAS going to give him a lift and I said I wasn't. Inside I wanted to say I would because I have to beat this somehow. So, I said I would - not because he said I should, but because I know I can do it. So, I got home and 30 seconds ago?? A text.....

'I think I've got a lift'.......... I don't know whether to feel relieved or miffed in a perverse kind of way.

    lol............just realised - 13 roundabouts in 9.76 miles...and then back again.....is that a record? :rotfl:

While I think driving more would help you BB I think a bit more on a weekly basis would be better than stressing yourself out so much you feel like crying. Is he the boss of you?! "you will give me a lift!"... !!!!!!!

  • he kept saying as he got out 'you can do it, I have confidence in you, you should have confidence in yourself'. I said - I do have confidence in myself. I now stand up and teach up to 15 people various subjects successfully - if I didn't have confidence in myself - I wouldn't be able to do that.

All I could hear in my head was 'he doesn't want to pay for a taxi'......there's a difference between a phobia and having confidence in yourself, isn't there? Or am I just getting it wrong?!
