Oh Taplady I am so sorry to hear about Lesleys passing away.I can understand it being a shock because my brother died last year and we had been warned it was coming but the phone call was still a terrible shock as somehow I'd always believed it wouldnt really happen and that he'd recover.I will light a candle for Lesley at Mass tonight
Well on a happier note I've spent the whole morning putting up the tree and trimmings. My house looks all Christmassy now but by crikey it took ages:o
After all the hassle and cleaning involved in trimming up I'm not doing much else this afternoon.I'll be watching the xfactor final tonight.I'm not sure who I want to win as Diana was my favourite

Such a lot of folks poorly and it's the same here. DS has had a sore throat and is stuffy. He played for the band concert last night which was a nice one, with mince pie and a glass of wine afterwards. All three wrinklies came which was nice too. OH on works do so he woke me up when he arrived home just after 1am.
Ds should have been at Youth ORch, then morris dancing for local event, then doing his weekly shift in the charity shop, but did none of them, just lolled around at home.
I'm supposed to be getting sorted out for the Morris dancers all coming for lunch tomorrow. Not getting on fast.
Relaxing sort of day, going at my own pace really. Bit more baking to do, loads of cleaning and then the tree to decorate. DS might help with that.
and catching up on here of course....well, looking for a recipe, aren't I? LOL!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Taplady - I'm very sorry to hear about Lesley, thinking of you and her family xx
VickyA - fingers all crossed for good results for your mum xx
Hugs to all others in need.
Had a busy few days, feel as though my entire year's social life has been squeezed into three days! Had a brilliant time at our mums' Christmas dinner, the Abba tribute band were fabulous, and so many people had made the effort to dress up that it was really good fun. Went to a friend's house for dinner and a party last night, and tonight is our village do! Have already been to help lay the tables, desserts are ready and in the fridge, finally found a secret Santa pressie and now all I need is to dig out a totally glam outfit from the depths of my wardrobe - well I live in hope lol!
OS wise I've made bread, think that's it really!
Have a good day all xx

Afternoon peeps
Taplady - ((((HUGS)))) for you and Lesleys family, also congratulations on passing your exam especially in such difficult circumstances.
Smoky - Hope that the little ones are better soon and you get chance to relax.
Well i`m knackeredlast nights Christmas pub crawl was great and we all had a fantastic time, i met new people and also saw ones that i`ve not seen for ages. Very MS too as i hardly spent anything as drinks were appearing at my side faster than i could drink them. I got soaked on the way home though but i was so pickled that i hardly noticed
I`m just back from taking Dad on a late shopping trip to the supermarket and the houndies are walked and dry for the time being, i`m dreading taking them out later as the weather is so bad. Lots of the roads are flooded and it`s really horrible.
Tonight is MrSunnys Christmas pub outing but i`ll be picking him up to bring him home to save a massive taxi fare. I`m now going to have an hour on the sofa as my headache seems to be creeping back. Tea tonight is that other half of last nights spag bol as it won`t fit in the freezer and i don`t feel like cooking anything.
Have a good afternoon everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Taplady, so sorry to hear about Lesley. Congratulations on passing your exam xx
Vicky - hope all goes well with your mum xx
Just passing through really, been up since 6.30 and haven't stopped. Started with the ironing mountain, then tidied and dusted and hovered. Most of next Sunday's veg is cooked and frozen, plus the stuffing balls and the sausage/bacon thingys. Snowman soup has been made and looks great, am quite impressed that my finished version looks like everyone elses :rotfl:
Tea tonight was going to be chicken casserole and herby dumplings, casserole is in SC but OH wants to treat us (me and DSD) to chinese tonight so who am I to say no. Casserole will be refrigerated overnight and guess what we are having tomorrow?
Going to have a shower and freshen up now, then guess its the christmas cards, not opened the pack yet! have made some for the more special people in my life and need to get them sorted too. Also need to arrange flower delivery for my DS and DIL to be to say happy new house to them. Sometime today I will just sit and think....no scrub that, don't want to think as I will probably find more stuff that needs doing
Hugs for anyone who is poorly or who has poorly loved ones xxxxwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Afternoon All
Nothing went as planned today, DD came round with DGS & DGD as her hubby has the floor boards up at home. DGS helped me decorate the tree, I need to rearrange them now he's gone as the tree has a decided list to the left as he hung all the decs in one place, lol.
DD also has a friend who's husband has just left her & who can't afford a Christmas tree, so she's taken her my old one along with a set of lights, so that's one thing less in the spare room.
I'm going to spend an hour or 2 surfing for some interesting wool & patterns for next years scarves & then spend the evening knitting, I just need to get tea sorted, which will be soup from the freezer so that won't take long.
Hugs Hester

have tried to read even if little time to post just now-
taplady, so sorry to hear of Lesley's passing, never easy, but somehow worse at this time of year. Glad you passed your exam tho'.
VickyA - my thoughts and best wishes for your Mum.
Today's been manic - up early to finish off last of cards, At Tescos by 8am, quick whizz round Church bazaar, hair done, then had hoped to visit son in hospital yet again in London (problems with his pancreas)...stood in line for train ticket when realised that I'd have to take a bus for part of the journey - NO!!! Will try to drive up tomorrow instead. So, into Cambridge to buy leaving gifts for school....just one more week to retirement. Not too much OS then, but boy am I busy and tired.Resolution:

Taplady-thinking of Lesleys family and you at this sad time.
We were awake at 4.45 this morning as DS2 was off snowboarding in Austria-his mate was meant to pick him up at 5 going to Leeds/Bradford airport which is about an hour away,,no sign of him. After about 20 mins of trying to ring him with no answer dh got dressed and ran him to mates house. He was still in bed and they had to throw stones at his window to wake him after the phone and doorbell didnt work-Lads!
Anyway they made it in time-DS rang a while ago ,said the place is great, hotel very clean etc,and theyve been out all afternoon. We went back to bed after,9.30 when we woke up  .The day has been a bit of a rush ever since-buying the tree and decorating it( got a bargain £13 as it was very flat at the back, but as its standing in a corner you cant tell!)We delivered a few cards, did some shopping ,had lunch at a Chinese buffet,so we only need a snack now.I had bought from the M&S 2 dinefor £10- a chicken, meditarranean veg, sticky toffee pud and a bottle of wine,so we'll have that tomorrow now.Just going to settle down ready for X factor,so have a good night folks.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
