Does anyone know how Vodafone calculate their loyalty bonus for PAYG customers?

Up until a few(?) years ago, Vodafone used to offer their PAYG customers a flat rate of £20 calling credit as a loyalty bonus if you bought a new Vodafone PAYG mobile. They then changed over to a system which rewards you depending on your usage, but they don't say how it is actually calculated (presumably they don't want people to be able to manipulate the timing of their topups to maximise their bonus - which is exactly why I WOULD like to know).

When you call Vodafone to check your eligibility you get an automated response so obviously there's some sort of calculation they do using certain perameters / averaging over a particular timeframe. I was just wondering if there was anybody "in the know" who possibly works for Vodafone and could let us all in on this "secret".

Incidently, if anyone on Vodafone PAYG wants to check their eligibility, the number to call from your handset is 17298 (option 2 > 2) ;)

maybe it's simpler than you think - O2 add 10% back

    But 10 % of what?
    • 10% of your last topup?
    • 10% of your total topups in the last 6 months?
    • 10% of your average monthly topup over the last 6 months? / 12 months?
Obviously they must calculate it using certain pre-defined parameters.

(actually, I did wonder what loyalty schemes the other networks had - does anyone about Orange or T-Mobile?)

On O2, it says it happens every 3 months, but I don't see that it makes any difference, unless you leave without receiving it.

edit - actually, I think we're talking about different things; this is their regular scheme, and there is also 10% more for people buying a phone. I don't know about Vodafone's scheme, as mine is just a SIM, no phone

Yeah, think we may be at cross-purposes here. The Vodafone loyalty scheme applies when you buy a new PAYG handset:
"If you are an existing pay as you talk customer and have just replaced your old pay as you talk mobile then we could reward you with up to £50 calling credit."
